Out of State Junior

basketb926, that might be a good strategy for you, if you also get admission to a college that will get you into CSE.

@gmail, my son is a student at UW, and I live in the Seattle area and read the local coverage of UW and WSU in newspapers, as well as know several professors at UW. I also have friends who went to WSU, and their son is going there.

Moominmama, I did not want to make it seem that you were not credible but I was curious if you had any engineering statistics. In case you thought the former, I apologize.

Computer Science/Engineering at Washington is very competitive. At the bear’s commencement last year I stood up and applauded the boy who got in as a freshman. I consider it equal to getting in an Ivy.

I know several of last year’s freshman that were admitted into the CSE program directly as freshman. The irony is in the fact that some were admitted to the College but rejected from the honors program.

The CSE program is competitive at UW, no doubt but it’s a great program that is definitely worth looking into if you’re interested. I’m not sure if it would be the best move to avoid UW because someone wasn’t admitted directly as a freshman into the College of Engineering, IMO. Most students don’t apply to their majors until later on in their college careers- its definitely not unusual.

@gmail, it did seem that way a bit, but your apology is most gracious. No, I’m afraid don’t have any engineering stats.

btw, i retook the SAT and got a 710 math, 720 Critical Reading 540 Writing: 1970 Total. If you take my best scores from each section, i have a 2030 and if you don’t look at writing, i have a 1430. Also, next year I am taking 4 AP’s, they are Stat, Calc AB (or BC if i’m recommended by my pre-calc teacher), Economics and Physics C. Thats alot ppl, i really appreciate your insight

seattle has weather but the city sucks

wwu and wsu arent as hard to get into ,but why wouldnt they be just as good?
