Kinda makes you wonder why they are paying for a coach if they’re not following her advice about how to handle yourself at auditions.

Okay, I have an update. (& @Jkellynh17 - yes, the program head knows me & my D…) I have found out that the guilty mom admitted to another CC lurker mom that she was bitter. Apparently, her D’s coach had told her that it would be pointless to apply to said school as it was an impossibly high reach for her.

^^That makes it even more crazy. Why would she bash the program? Sounds like the coach may have been the one who she should have been directing the negative comments at in her tirade.

When someone overtly bashes a program, it’s usually safe to assume they have an ax to grind. I’ve never put much stock in anyone’s opinions about programs unless they personally have spent at least a year there, or have NO dog in the fight and broad industry connections, and even then it’s important to realize their opinion is shaped by their own unique perspective. For example, if you spoke with D’s roommates (all seniors in the same program) you would hear four vastly different reasons why they love their school, and vastly different thoughts about the program’s weaknesses, since each has pursued a very individual course of study and will seek completely different careers. Similarly, if you spoke to 10 Broadway directors I bet you’d hear wide ranging opinions of various schools based on where they went to school and which grads they’d encountered over the years.

And it’s widely known that everyone LOVES the car they just bought. ;)
