overnight delivery on a Sunday

That’s exactly what the Best Buy guy told me, almost word for word.

I guess he knows what’s right.

teriwtt, This probably won’t help you, but I thought I’d pass it along because it might be helpful to someone else in the future.

An AT&T store can set up an iPhone at the time of purchase using a new temporary number. It doesn’t have to be a phone number your family is currently using. When you’re ready to switch back to your original number, just call AT&T and they can make the switch for you.

AT&T doesn’t like to issue temporary numbers and may even tell you they can’t do it. They CAN do it, however. Just press the issue with the AT&T store manager. One of my kids had to purchase his iPhone this way and everything worked out perfectly.

Phone’s in the mail; will arrive by tomorrow 3PM.

I asked the BB rep about the SIM card in the phone. He said almost everyone he knew who has tried to remove it, even with the little gadget Apple provides, has created some sort of problem, and in good conscious, he couldn’t recommend doing that based on the experiences he’s heard about.

So the next challenge I faced was when I went to the post office. I took the IPhone box in with me, so I could ask what would be the best way to send it. They showed me what I needed, then the clerk asked about whether or not the battery was actually inserted into the phone, because if it was, I would have to remove it. Since these packages go via air, I could send them in the same package, but the battery would have to be removed from the phone. Well, since we never opened the package, I told her no, I’d just bought the phone and hadn’t even opened it to put the battery in… although I knew full well the battery was in the phone, but the phone is not turned on.

So there was another customer standing behind me, and I heard him say, no, it’s not connected. He saw I was sending an unwrapped IPhone, and knew what the clerk was getting at… basically, was I sending a phone through the air that is powered up. So I took his lead, and told the lady, I haven’t even taken it out of the box. It’s not a working phone, although I knew I’d just activated it in the store 20 minutes prior.

So hopefully some screener won’t decide that the package can’t be shipped the way it is and delay its delivery. I hope D appreciates this present.
