Packers vs. Steelers

Happy the Stealers lost! No cheap tocuhdowns this year.

^^^: Me too for couple of reasons

 • Aaron Rogers is fellow Californian from Chico and played at Cal.
 • Don’t like Steelers QB off-the-field notoriety - including two sexual assault charges

Congrats, Packer fans. It was a good game. Might have been a different game if Steelers didn’t have 3 turnovers. I’ve gotta hand it to Aaron Rodgers in the battle of the QBs. Enjoy the Lombardi Trophy, GB!

As for me, since the Steelers lost, I’m in search of a cheese head to wear on Facebook … :(

Great for Green Bay!!!

I was getting nervous in the 4th quarter there, but so happy the best team won. I’ll be roaming the Pittsburgh suburbs tomorrow in my Packers sweatshirt.

mamabear1234 - what a courageous soul you are!

When Christina Aguilera was singing, I couldn’t help thinking that if she were a contestant on American Idol, would Steven, Jennifer and Randy have given her a gold ticket to Hollywood…I think the answer would have been NO.

GO Pack GO! You made it a little uncomfortable there in the second half, but now the Lombardi Trophy goes home!

I see where schools in Green Bay are closed at 1:15 today for the Packer’s return to Green Bay. I heard one broadcaster said it was for “the victory party”, but schools were already set to close early, even if the Packers lost.

The game was ok…

If the Packers did not drop so many balls…Aaron Rodgers would have had an even better game…

I really enjoyed Black Eyed Peas…

It was an exciting game.

I always roll my eyes at the seemingly inevitable “I’m going to Disney World” plug. Each year I have more respect for Gretzky, who was asked to do this after multiple Stanley Cup wins. He refused saying he didn’t want to demean the Stanley Cup that way and interfere with the team’s post-game celebration.

Aaron Rodgers had one of the best games ever by a Super Bowl QB even with the dropped balls, only the third QB ever to pass for over 300 yards, 3 TDs and no picks on the big stage. The others were Joe Montana and Steve Young, pretty select company. Acknowledging the dropped balls, Steve Young said on ESPN last night it was probably the best performance ever by a QB in the Super Bowl. Very gracious of Young to say so. And maybe true. There were probably not more than 3 or 4 times all night that Rodgers didn’t put the ball just exactly where he wanted to, and he threaded the needle a few times, putting the ball only where his otherwise well-covered receiver could catch it. Brilliant performance by a young QB who has elevated his game to join the elite ranks. Best part from a Packers fan’s perspective: apart from a couple of old warhorses like Charles Woodson and Donald Driver, this is a very young team. They’ll be back for more.

Yes…Aaron Rodgers was great…

I would add Phil Simms to that list if my memory is correct…

I kind of remember you having some ties to Wisconsin, bclintonk…that’s cool…

I’m a 49er fan and a Cal fan …and I am an Aaron Rodgers fan too. I can’t believe the
49ers did not take Aaron Rodgers…

Aaron Rodgers played right in the 49ers backyard…

Congratulations Packers. You played a great game.

We didn’t go watch the game @ a sports bar like I wanted to ( for the big screen), because H was afraid that the Steelers would win- & our tv is really too little to see anything ( H listened to the radio- which makes little sense to me).

Sounds like a good game- but so happy football is over for a while.

Happy New Year.
:)

Almost. Phil Simms threw for 3 TDs, no picks, and 287 yards in Super Bowl XXI, going 22 of 25 for a passer rating of 150.9. Outstanding, certainly rivaling and arguably even besting Rodgers’ performance last night even though he didn’t quite make 300 yards.

Well, I don’t know about “ties” exactly, but you might say I’ve got Wisconsin surrounded. Over the years I’ve lived at various times immediately north of it (Upper Peninsula of Michigan), as well as immediately east (Lower Michigan), south (Chicago), and west of it (Minnesota). Like many “Yoopers” my Dad was a big Packers fan and my brothers have season tickets. I’m a pretty casual pro football fan, much prefer the college game, but if I do have a pro team it’s the Packers, by blood I guess. I did enjoy the Packers’ phenomenal late-season and post-season run and Aaron Rodgers’ emergence as one of the game’s top QBs.

BClintonk…I guess I remembered wrong…

I’ve been to one game at Cowboy Stadium. We were guests in a suite near Jerry Jones’ suite. Even being that close to the action, in a perfect spot, you would find yourself staring up at the huge screen. Last night I saw the players doing the same thing, and they are RIGHT there where the action is. For replays, I get it, but it cracked me up how they would watch the screen during play.

It really is a stunning facility.

Nrdsb4 - I’ve heard Cowboys Stadium referred to as the Jerrydome.

Was listening to Milwaukee AM talk radio today as I was out driving around, and one of the broadcasters made the same comment about that huge screen. They say it’s 60 yards wide, from the 20-yard line to the 20-yard line. They also said the resolution is remarkable, that in fact you could see the pores in Aaron Rodgers face.

GREAT interview with Aaron Rodgers on Letterman right now!

Not only is the above list incomplete, but is also quite silly to measure the performance of a quarterback. A quarterback can throw for 300 yards without a pick and be easily forgotten and never mentioned as a Super Bowl great. Just ask Jack Delhomme in 2004 (323 yards, 3 TD, 0 interceptions)! Why silly? Would anyone consider Delhomme’s performance better than Brady (354 yards, 3 TD, 1 interception) in the same SB 38?

As far as performance in a Super Bowl, it would take a passion for hyperbole a la Steve Young to rank Rodgers performance as more memorable or better than say Simms (87), Bradshaw (79), Aikman (93) … and the list goes on with Doug Williams, Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, and several others.

Slice it as you want, Rodgers played well enough to deserve the MVP recognition, but his performance does not come close to the best 10 performances in a SB by a QB.
