packing/dorm esentials

thanks for all this. i’m mostly interested in items that MT majors must have (or should have) Thanks so much!

Don’t know if it was mentioned earlier, but a 3 in one printer is a great tool to have.

Encourage your performer to scan music so he or she can have it in digital (.pdf) form - this is very efficient and will allow him or her to always have access to tons of music without lugging around heavy binders, plus to be able to print multiple copies of songs when they need to make notes and cuts, etc.! It’s also a great idea to get a small-in-size but big-in-capacity external hard drive for your performers to save and/or back up such files. These hard drives are now really inexpensive - mine is a Western Digital (WD) which I got at Best Buy for about $120 and it’s 250 gig! :)

I am not techno savvy. Are you talking about the Griffin iTalk for the microphone to connect with an iPod to record accompaniment from lessons? Is there another preferable brand?

anne1244, I can’t remember the brand of microphone we got but the Apple store had a couple to choose from. We selected one that has a short boom on it which provides some flexibility in aiming it. The last time I checked, about a month ago, these microphones were available only for the regular IPods and not ITouch, IPhone or Nano.
