let us know what the Apple store says about the drive- I actually just got mine back yesterday- but haven’t tried the drive yet.

( now I am looking for a case- the kind that stays on all the time, cause I tend to bang it up & I hate the aluminum which scratches so easily, but the ones I looked at were hard plastic & seemed hard to get a grip onto- the 15" size is a little too heavy for me to grasp easily- why can’t they make a case with indentations for your fingers?)

Good luck with your HP. Let me know how you like it because I may purchase a new laptop to replace son’s old inspiron before he goes back to school.

E, after first telling my daughter that I damaged the drive by inserting the disc incorrectly and attempting to charge me a few hundred dollars to repair the laptop, the Apple Store techs worked on the problem, decided the laptop is in fact defective, and is replacing it for free. So my daughter has gone to pick up her new laptop, and so all ends well. I am sure the Mac is a very nice option, just not for me.

Nysmile, so far my new HP is a dream… :)

well at least you know it wasn’t your fault ;)

new toys are supposed to be fun.

^^ I know, right? When my daughter came back the first time yesterday and told me that the techs at the store said I loaded the disc improperly and therefore was responmsible for the damage, and that a few hundred dollars would fix it, I got really upset. I mean, how hard is it to properly insert a disc?

Anyway, we now each have a new toy, and we are both happy with the outcome… :)
