Paranoid - Am I Just Worrying Too Much?

I’m actually going to disagree with the previous statements about jumping too far. First semester is pass/fail, and if you managed to place into the next level of math you aren’t going to fail. The placement test is pretty much basic calculus, with a little bit of BC on there, and if you feel good about your calculus skills you should go up to the next level. Odds are that you will enjoy these sections more (for example, the HW sets are more interesting) and, in the worst case, it’s not that hard to move down if you feel overwhelmed. My advice: take the placement test, and follow the recommendation that you get.

During orientation week, there are multiple placement tests offered. If you have a strong background in any of the subjects, I would urge you to take the placement tests. Definitely take the physics placement exam if you think you know enough physics. I took the higher-level version of mechanics, and it was awesome. The book was great, the problems were very interesting, and the prof. was amazing. The grading scale was also very fair, and nobody was ever overwhelmed. Best class of the semester by far.
