Good Morning, Everyone! TGIF! PM, that supper sounded delish, too! It’s nice that you and your hubby have figured out where you want to be. Building a house is such a neat thing. I’ve always wanted to do that, but probably would look into some pre-fab options nowadays. My motto is: Never Say Never, so maybe one day in the future? Ha! I just need to figure out where and get my hubby on board ~ LOL! OK, it’s off to work for me. Have a great Friday, Everyone! DM

rom, I just don’t know. On the one hand, I’d like to end up somewhere with 4 seasons, but no terrible extremes: does that exist?

Emotionally, I’d like to end up close to our only child/son.

Practically, I need to stay where I am for a while because my paycheck now supports our household and I don’t think anyone else would hire me for what I am being paid!

Oh, PackMom, may I be your new BFF? I’ll do the dishes when I visit (or cook–I’m pretty good–you choose) and you won’t mind my husband one bit.
:)

Ma,Did you watch the video? It’s very rural but honestly after twenty-some years of the rush-rush life in our traffic laden commuter suburb, we are ready to return to the slower pace we grew up with.

You can come visit anytime. I won’t even make you wash dishes :)

Good Morning - Just TRIED to drop S at our HS to take the ACT. There was a road race that cut off all access to the school - ridiculous!! I got out out of the car and explained to the officers what was happening but with hundreds of runners on the street there was nothing to be done. So… S had to cross the runners (picture Frogger) and run to the school (only 1/4 mile). But there was a line of cars driven by students who had no idea what to do with their cars. The officers created some room so that they could do uturns and park on the other side of the street - where there is NO Parking. UGH!!! This happened almost an hour ago and I’m still frustrated!! Maybe the adreneline will be a good thing for the kids?? I remained calm until I got on the phone with the city (311). Poor girl. I kept apologizing for being so angry. She was very nice.

Did I mention it is a beautiful day here? Cool, blue skies…

Wow, Rom…I would be really annoyed too. Hope everyone was able to get there on time. Is this his first time taking the ACT? Mine only took the SAT.

When S1 took the SAT, he spent the night with a friend the night before. He showed up at home about 20 minutes before the test started, walked in and said “what time does it start, again?” arrrgghh!

This is his first time. From what I’ve read, on paper he is better suited to take the ACT. His SAT while good were not a reflection of his performance. I’m just hoping that he does well enough and he can be done with it. He called to tell me he was going to lunch with a friend. When I asked how it went, I got the usual “Tell you when I get home”, which most likely means “I’ll eventually throw you a bone or two after you drag me kicking and screaming”. He’s not very forthcoming.

Awww, Rom, doesn’t that fall under “Murphy’s Law?” Somebody sure wasn’t thinking about the duel events going on in your town today! I can just see all of those kids trying to jog the 1/4 mile to the school! LOL! On the other hand, really frustrating and not so great for the nerves of parents and test takers. Like you said, hopefully all that running gave them an adrenaline rush advantage on their ACT. By coincidence, my daughter just came down about a half an hour ago and said, “I should have taken the ACT today.” Ha! She hasn’t even brought the ACT up until the last week. Did your son do any prep for it? Today my priority is getting ready for company tonight - four couples joining us for Couple’s Game Night - an Activity Group out of our local Newcomer’s Club. We all bring appetizers to share and a beverage of our choice. As hosts, my hubby and I also provide the table-side snacks, dessert and decaf coffee. We play a domino game called Mexican Train which is a combination of luck and skill and not so serious that we can’t chat while we play. I’ve been dusting to the soundtrack tape from Footloose - great dusting music! OK, time to vaccuum ~ hope everyone is having a nice Saturday. Rom, I’m sending you a glass of wine along with a smile, DoveMom

DM, Game Night sounds fun. DH has not had a day off work in over a month and my weekends have been super boring. My excitement of the day is yardwork. I love this time of the year when all the plants we forgot about over the winter start reappearing all over the yard.

Game night does sound fun and I wish I could join you for a glass of wine!

ACT was fine - he called it good practice and he asked me to register him again for June.

We are going to see the movie Date Night tonight. I’ll let you know if it’s as good as the reviews. D wants to see that Miley Cyrus flick - yikes! Fortunately, they are showing at the same times.

Date Night movie was very funny - would definitely recommend. Great flick to see with H.

Hi Everyone! We had a nice evening last night with our friends and the bonus today is a clean house! Rom, I’m glad your son felt good about the ACT. My daughter is now feeling that she would like to take the ACT as well as the SAT. Today has been a day to relax for me. I did go shopping this afternoon and found some new blouses at Kohl’s that will be good for work or at home. The weeks seem to fly by - hard to believe that DWTS will be on again tomorrow night. Our class is going on a field trip tomorrow to a farm - should be fun! Have a nice evening. DM

Anyone around? It’s Tuesday and tonight it will be DWTS results (my guess is that Kate, Jake, or Aiden will go home, but it all depends on how the votes went), American Idol (since they saved Big Mike last week, two will go home this week, so vote if you really like someone), and Biggest Loser (not too into that one this time around, but I usually flip the channels during commercials and catch part of it). It turns out that our field trip yesterday was to see a production of Seussical (a musical version of Horton Hears a Who), instead of the farm (that is coming up next month). The children were very well-behaved and enjoyed the show - a lot of singing and dancing. Today we all picked a country from our heritage and put a foam star with our names on it on a world map. Then the kids were split into two teams and two by two competed against each other to see who could find the continent the student teacher mentioned. It was a nice way for First Graders to get an intro into the basics of Geography. We also had an assembly with and author/illustrator named Dar Hosta. She does wonderful collage illustrations and had a short film that showed how she makes them - really cool. Hope you’ve all had a good day! Sending a Smile, DoveMom

I’m having a tough time getting back into the swing of things after being off work last week for Spring Break. I teach at preschool that follows the public school schedule.
I woke up this a.m. and had to remind myself what day it was!

Rom, the movie sounds fun. I’d like to see it.

DM, Sounds like some serious geog. for first graders. I’m impressed. Maybe because I’m still at the shapes/colors/letters/numbers stage with my classes, lol.

Didn’t watch DWTS last night. I did watch some cuts of it online today. Kate must go!
Tonight’s line-up for me will be switching back and forth between AI and America’s Next Top Model and then the big event…GLEE…love that show. Do y’all watch it?

Got word from both my sons last night that each had done well on big tests so that was a sigh of relief…til the next one.

Funny thing you mentioned GLEE. I’ve heard a lot about and I think I’ll watch it tonight since tonight is the season opener (it is, right?). H gets so confused when I tell him a show is just starting and it’s April. He’s still living in TV Land from last decade when all shows began in September. HA! Since we watch NO shows in prime time (except for the occasional AI), he has no idea when shows we watch in reruns have been cancelled. The kids and I like to string him along…

My D watches ANTM when it is airs the reruns on Saturday.

PM - Glad to see I’m not the only affected by test anxiety!!

That’s great that both of you are teachers - it is a true calling. Takes true stamina.

Hi PM & Rom, Glee is a great show! I’ve only seen it a couple of times, but was really impressed. I originally was a theatre major in college and also participated in HS plays, so shows like that bring back good memories. My HSD had two tests today - Honors English and Pre-Calculus - on the very first day of the final quarter - talk about a way to start off the quarter! Ha! Her Junior year has been a tough one - a real learning curve to know what to expect from her teachers on tests and other assignments - it’s good to know the end is near! Gee, that’s funny that America’s Next Top Model is on tonight where you are, PM. It airs on Wednesday nights here. I’m actually a Teacher Instructional Aide now. I used to teach Third Grade when we lived in NY. I subbed (K-8th) for about 6 years after we moved here, giving me time to pursue other interests, too. I took this job because it’s a very special situation. Our First Grade Class is great.

DM you are absolutely right,ANTM is on Weds. See, I told you my days were mixed up!

Hope y’all enjoy Glee…keep in mind that it’s supposed to be pretty campy. I have to keep explaining that to DH:)

I majored in Nursing in college but quit that life after my boys were born. I’ve been teaching preschoolers (two and three yr. olds) for eight years now. It’s a great schedule 8:30-1:30 M-F.
Yep, Jr. year was the toughest for both my boys. Senior year was much less stressful.
S1 graduated fr. college last May. His big test was in his Navy training, very stressful.

S2 is a college soph. He had a big Hist. test that he needed to do well on because he completely bombed the first one of the sem.
Exams are just around the corner.

^^Does your husband get the camp business? My husband just looks at me in disbelief (that I am watching such absurd fare) and leaves the room. Because hockey and baseball are so “real,” I guess!

I watched AI and Glee last night. I had not seen AI since they first got to Hollywood so I have no favorites. My fav last night was Lee. I’ll have to tune in tonight to see.

Glee was good - not great. I get campy, but I was not overwhelmed. I’ll try again next week. It probably didn’t help that I was unfamiliar with the back stories.
mafool - my H was watching a tech show on the internet with his headphones on. He loves chick flicks et al, but he does not get the camp business! Fortunately, D who is usually not allowed to watch TV during school week, watched it with me. I love making exceptions! :)

Hope you all have a great day!
