Parental screennames

I am reminded of the many formulas for picking a porn star name: eg, first pet’s name + city of birth = porn star name. Mine would be Ruff Dearborn.

In terms of this forum, I do define myself by the precious lambs. That’s why I’m here after all. Actually, I define myself by them all the time.

Is that Dearborn, MI? Just drove there and back to NJ this weekend.

Some of us remember the day we took our eldest to preschool, and some freckle-faced moppette looked up and said, “Hi, Jimmy’s Mom.” It is one of life’s sweetest moments and hard to let it go.

Yes, Dearborn, MI. You live in NJ and go to the Detroit area for a weekend? Duuude, you need a new travel agent.

I am also reminded of my co-workers’ reaction to the birth of my first child. They said something like “It’s hard to believe YOU are a father.” I said, “I don’t know why it’s so hard…you’ve been calling me a ‘mother’ behind my back for years.”

This is totally off topic…We had to be in Detroit to see our daughter’s final ballet performance. Last year when we tried to make the same trip our flight was cancelled, the airline was only obligated in getting us on the next available flight (2 days later). We ended up driving to Detroit in order to pick her up before the dorm closed. We missed her performance last year and we were not taking the chance again this year. We always stay at Dearborn. My butt is still sore from all that driving.

parentofbear–you are parent of a bear???

I’ve also noticed that it tends to be Americans that use “mom/mother” in their screen names. Very few Irish mothers do.

So , we have a large Irish mom contingent, do we? Well. That explains a lot. ;)

I’m too old to remember multiple screen names. It’s very easy to find me on any forum! I will say…the only reason there is a 1 in my screenname here is that when I joined…it kept telling me that Thumper was already taken. Well…yooohooo…Thumper…I’ve never seen your post!!

Hey, TourGuide, my porn star name using your formula would be Heidi Chicago. I like the Ruff Dearborn thing you got goin.

This is based from my experience with various other Irish forums ;)

No one would come to a movie starring Chibi Sagamihara…

although most here think that I am a dad from PA, my screen name was derived from the thought of being a single parent who takes on the load of a mom and a dad by being a “pa” and a “dad”.

“mom”, “dad” and “parent” is the most logical thing to put in a screenname on this forum. You want to differentiate yourself from the students who post here. Notice, this is the “parent cafe”.

On a gardeners’ forum I might be “perenniallygrowing” or “shadelover”.

TourGuide446, I believe it’s actually supposed to be pet’s name + the name of the street where you grew up. In my case, Ziggy Lexington. Not very enticing, I’m afraid. Maybe it would work for a male porn star, I don’t know.

I use DonnaL for the obvious reason that that’s my first name and the first letter of my surname. I’m not on very many other forums, but I think I use my real first name on all of them. On one that’s more private (members-only), from which I’ve met 25 or 30 members “in real life,” I’ve even mentioned my last name a few times, and use my son’s actual name when I talk about him – since a number of members have met him, too.

I don’t incorporate anything about being a parent in my screen name here because I think it’s pretty obvious in 99% of my posts that I’m a parent, not a student!

Well, since I love poetry (and occasionally write it), and fancy myself as “artistically sensative”:p…

Mom has always been an important role for me, but for some reason, it has never occurred to me to make “mom” part of my username. Don’t know why…

“I believe it’s actually supposed to be pet’s name + the name of the street where you grew up.”

I contacted the International Porn Star Name Clearinghouse in Climax, Michigan, and they said while the pet’s name + street name formula is indeed the preferred method, they won’t bring official sanctions against anyone who substitutes the city name for the street name. Boy, was I relieved to hear that.

Gladmom, given Donna L’s clarification that it is the street name, not the city name, I can only hope you didn’t grow up on Wacker Drive in Chicago.

TourGuide: Thanks for the clarification. My “official” name is now Heidi Dickens.

I will stay mute . I will stay mute. I will stay mute.
