<p>I wanted to update with some good news. I emailed U of M and asked for more financial aid. They bumped me up to the next Dean’s award and I got a little bit more. Not a huge amount, but every little bit counts! I wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for your guys’ encouragement so thanks all! :)</p>

<p>Congratulations on finding your right place. Back when you were leaning toward SLU, I was secretly rooting against it but didn’t want to comment on it, thinking it would ruin your mojo. I have a distant relative there, worldly and well-travelled but an obvious minority, who has found it rather provincial. </p>

<p>Michigan is getting a star and one of CCs favorites.</p>

<p>Lol, manget. I really would have liked to get out of Michigan… spread my wings a bit and all that, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me and that’s A-OK. With the money I’m saving, I’m hoping to be able to travel around the US this upcoming August. I’m quitting work a few weeks before starting grad classes so I’m hoping to get out and explore a bit. </p>

<p>I have to keep reminding myself how well Michigan is regarded on a national and even an international scale. Michiganders tend to be a bit blind about that considering it’s in our own back yard. Some OOS students and the Admitted Students Day looked at me like I had two heads when I was thinking about going elsewhere- given the IS tuition, low/no rent, and reputation. </p>
