<p>Just to clarify: The link I recommend for assessing one’s suitability for TFA ([Thoughts</a> on Teach for America](<a href=“http://www.tfa-thoughts.blogspot.com/]Thoughts”>http://www.tfa-thoughts.blogspot.com/)) is very up-front about the author having quit (the author being a “she,” not a “he,” btw). That said, it’s expository, not bitter–and most important, offers a tremendously insightful assessment of good and bad reasons to join TFA, along with discussion of useful teacher qualities, the likes of which could only be distilled by someone who went through an experience such as she did. If anyone’s thinking of TFA, I recommend doing an honest self-assessment of both your motives and personal traits based on these insights. It will either save you a ton of grief, or convince you that this is a calling you can’t ignore.</p>
