D’s scores went up a bit from first time. I was hoping they’d be a bit higher, but am not going to make her take them again. Honestly I think they are an accurate relection of her A-/B plus student!

^^^^
I am with you holliesue. My D’s SAT I score is def not a reflection of her GPA. Some kids are just better at standardized tests than the others. The studying she did this time did pay off in the CR section just not in the math. I am going to let her decide if she wants to take again…which I highly doubt she will. I am hoping some of the merit aid decisions will take into consideration her GPA along with test scores not just test scores. I just looked up her first choice and they superscore so feeling much better about things now.

^^
YES
the thing that bugs me about the SAT is that it doesn’t necessarily reflect high IQ kids, it doesn’t necessarily reflect high GPA/rigorous curriculum, and kids with time and money can be prepped

If your student -like mine–has little time for more stuff–and didn’t start prepping in time–
it can be a real red herring to a kids potential…

I don’t know S1’s CollegeBoard User ID or password.
I’m going to head upstairs in a bit…to roust him out of bed, in order to view his SAT II scores. I have no grandiose expectations, since he did nothing at all to prep. He should know soon, if either of his two school choices requiring SAT II’s are still interested in him as a student athelete. If so… he may be taking SAT II’s again in the fall.

I am more anxious for ACT’s - hopefully as early as 6/28. The ACT site said the writing portion could take upto a couple weeks longer to score. Ugh.

The June 5 SAT I scores were the last piece of the admission puzzle for S2: 2360, single setting. I have to admit that I kept the heat on him pretty hard to prep over the month previous, but it was hard to find the time with 2 SATII subject tests, AP tests, state-required ACT, coursework, ECs, etc. But CC forums provided critical help–the Xiggi method and the “12 essay in 10 days” were ever so useful. No tutors or coaches, just the standard prep books, and a couple arguments between S2 and “Nazi-Dad.”

Way to go, UT84321!!! Fabulous score! My D didn’t rocket out of the sky quite like that, but she, too, is very happy with her results, especially since she really rocked the ACT. We are doing the happy dance this am.

I’m at work, my D is a sleeper, so I expect I’ll get the scores around lunchtime. The schools she’s interested in are all RD, so if the results aren’t all that and a bag of chips, there’s opportunity to re-take or take the ACT.

D1 is up suspiciously early, but hasn’t texted anything about results (SAT IIs). On the other hand, she only needs them for UC applications.

800 Lit and now 5/5 on subject tests. Good way to end Junior year.

Called to remind D scores were in today. Oh - she didn’t know. Called a few hours later - expected that she would have checked them by now at least (curiosity?). Nope, hasn’t looked. Showing no signs of wanting to look. She’s headed out to Mexico tomorrow morning, so it’s likely she doesn’t want bad news before she heads out. But seriously, the fact that she does not want to look is making me very nervous. How bad could it be ??

Congratulations to all those who got scores and are happy with them. Maybe fewer future test dates.

We are behind all of you. ShawD has not taken any tests yet. She began studying yesterday for the ACTs, which will be her only tests. Grammar and reading in the mornings. Math in the afternoons. For 3 weeks and then she gets busy.

Only one way to find out. I wouldn’t be able to wait until tomorrow am…least of all until she gets back from Mexico. Make her tell you. Offer cash! :)

Congrats to all whose students either have scores they’re happy with, or at least are happy to be done with testing. Or are happy to have another opportunity to take the tests again! There, that should cover all possibilities. :)

arisamp, D1 leaves for Miami on Sunday, so for all I know she’s waiting to check scores until she gets back. This morning she was subscribing to twitter feeds for local gourmet taco trucks, and sending me links to the grilled cheese truck menu.

Well, I got my scores back!

U.S. History: 770. I thought this test was harder than the AP Exam so hopefully that means I got a 5.

Literature: 630 :(

Should I retake lit?

Congrats, CIA!

Other people can advise you better about retaking. It depends on the schools, your major, the requirements of scholarships, etc. I would say if your ACT and/or SAT1 scores in English/Reading are higher, schools would just see that as a blip. Clearly you are good in those areas, or you wouldn’t have aced the History!

Best wishes to everyone - glad to have the wait over with. My D did nicely on SAT2s, had one great score that should help her a lot. On to ACT! Maybe I’ll be saying the same thing next week, hope so … For sure, it will be nice to know that score, too.

^^ CIA
Wow–You rocked the US History!

Retaking will depend–on your timing --and where you are applying.

Our student had decent scores for 3 SAT2s–and retook them–bringing 2 up significantly–I think becasue school/APs and exams were over and maybe had a good nights sleep ;o)

third subjeect was better the first time-- so that one will stand as it…

So look at the schools, and consider WHEN you’d take it and the timing…

If your SAT1 or ACT are stellar, and you have APs Eng Lang and Lit–do you need the Lit SAT2? Is there another subject that would be better? Math2?

Hubby, son, and I heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow for Pitt’s “Ready Set Pitt” event. S is spending tomorrow night in the dorm and is really nervous/excited. Then all day event Saturday. We’re all really looking forward to it!

mdye718,
You will have to let us know how it goes. Pitt is on our list. We will be down that way end of July.

Ok, so am I the only parent here who knows her kid’s college board account sign-in infomation? In fact, S had to ask me last night what his log-in info was so he could check early without waking me.

He had to get up early this morning to catch a plane to the east coast, but he had a nice surprise waiting for him – he got great scores on both Math 2 and US Hist. Hopefully, it will give him some confidence as he heads to his first interview tomorrow morning!

. Oh, no, SDmom, you are definitely not the only one. At D’s request, I initially set up her accounts (ACT and SAT), kept track of her usernames and passcodes, and sit panting by the computer awaiting the test results.

She is fine with that…kinda amused that I get so worked up about it.

Fortunately, both times I’ve been able to run up to her bedroom (once I woke her up) screaming, "your scores are in, and you won’t believe how happy you’re gonna be! At our house, I’m the keeper of all things administrative, and she likes having an “admin.”. Doesn’t view it as an invasion of privacy at all.
