Glad to hear it Creekland! And the site changes to me are what my husband calls “deprovement” . I don’t like how much space there is everywhere. I don’t see the point and the font type is smaller. So now it is harder to read.

This old dog is still getting used to the new tricks too - and finding myself preferring old. I guess that goes with the territory considering I’m no longer < 29.

I’ve also discovered I’m forgetting a LOT right now (short term stuff and more than age related stuff we all do) and making a lot of errors - both typos and with simple math, etc. If this continues, I’m discontinuing the radiation. My mind means far more to me than my sight. The sight issue was workable… Some trade offs are not worth it. I’ll see how tomorrow goes.

At least I know I can’t blame this board being harder to read on anything related! ;)

I’m trying to be open to change, but I’m kind of going crazy right now trying to find the threads I want to read and I also do not like how small the font is. Or where people’s names are.

I used to get a daily notification of all the comments posted the day before. Now I get them as soon as anyone posts. How do I fix that?

Having a little trouble here…and the white background is driving me crazy!

There’s a tool icon (looks like a cog) at the very top right of the page. It will take you to your notification preferences. Deselect email.

ok. will I still get the once a day notification?

We want bigger fonts, please!!!

Wishing you well, Creekland.

This new format is awful. It hurts my eyes to have all this white and then be straining to read the font, especially the light blue names of posters. Even all the boxes of CC to the left of posts are annoying.

Everything will look bigger and easier on our mature eyes if you hold the CTRL key on your keyboard and click + a couple times. It gets rid of some white space too.

I hate change! :)

I used to get a notification when someone posted to this thread and then not get notified again until after I had visited. Now, I have a string of notifications. Several have already been marked by gmail as spam…

It seems like our choices on notification on our bookmarked threads now are
- Get notified by e-mail every time
- Get notified by popup every time
- Never get notified.

That means that we definitely LOST functionality in this upgrade.

I like the little notifications globe in the upper right - easier to see right away what is new.

It does have one thing we all wanted and that was a “like” button! But, I’m with the rest of you-not liking it.

Well, I just did my first like to you NervousNellie1.

I have been away and just saw the changes to the site yesterday. Change is never easy for me.
I barely have time to keep up with this one thread (and it is not all that active),but I wanted to wish Creekland well with her medical treatment and the inherent challenges. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I also send my best to anyone else reading who is having any challenges.

H and I are really not liking all this cold weather. I really don’t remember the last winter I think that it was this cold, but it must have been around 30 years ago.

It was this cold in Michigan in January 1994. I remember that, because it was when Barnardgirl was born and I was on maternity leave, which was a mixed blessing. It was -19 actual temperature the day I took her home from the hospital. We were home bound most of the 6 weeks I was off on leave. It was nice that I didn’t have to leave the house, but at the same time, she was colicky and I would have liked to try taking her for a walk in the carriage. Friends took their babies for rides in the car but she would just scream in the car because she was so bundled up she hated it.

It was also this snowy in Michigan in 1978. I was a college senior and they cancelled classes for 2 days in a row! D(HS 2016) is getting tired of the snow days. She has one more day of finals that keeps getting delayed a day at a time. Probably no school tomorrow with terribly low wind chills and more snow expected.

Fun to see some familiar names on the 2014 HS parents thread!l Easier the second time, isn’t it? Hard to believe it’s been two years since we were at that stage of college selection. Starting to think about it for youngest D; 2 more years to go.

The Blizzard of '78! I remember that. We had 3 or 4 snow days in a row! I was in junior high then. S is not tired of snow days. He’s loving procrastinating doing homework.

It is easier the 2nd time. Much easier. This is my last time and I’m glad for that. I’m counting how many more years of FAFSA/Profile!

The University of Michigan just canceled classes for tomorrow for the first time since '78.

Barnard Mom, my D was also an infant in Jan 94, and I remember the cold, staying in, and watching the olympics while I was cleaning house etc. I had a small tv in the kitchen and one in the den, both going I guess for company.

I was in Ithaca in 78, and I remember that we had awful snow then. They usually never close for snow or cold at Cornell, but we may have had a day that things were closed. Somehow they always seemed to get the roads cleared, and things went on. I do remember wearing my long johns under my jeans, and a really warm down jacket. Ugly but really warm.

Good luck to those going through another acceptance cycle.

Yes-I remember the first winter my S existed. He was born in the fall so he was only a few months old and I remember it getting down to -22.

Ohio State has cancelled again today. That is the 3rd time this month. This time though business is usual as far as the union and rec centers go. I’m thinking he will stay put though. If it’s too cold to walk across campus to get to class, it’s too cold to head out too far for food. The union and High Street are a haul from his dorm. I know at the beginning of the month when they were closed he and suite mates ordered chinese. I don’t think my child has ever eaten chinese but he didn’t balk at doing it again. I think he said he had pepper steak. He is trying to expand his palate. It’s fun to hear about even little changes like that.

Stay warm everyone!!!
