Hmmm…may need to do a bit of internet shopping for this…

Some places I go for decent priced dress shirts w/out logos. I need to buy slim fit shirts for me so all of these places sell slim fit dress shirts and polos…

Brooks Brothers…regular store and outlet
Dillards
Costco…actually sells a pretty nice slim fit Kirkland brand shirt

Online, I would recommend Lands End, Paul Fredrick, BB, and Charles Tyrwhitt.

BB and LE are my go to brands for decent quality at a fair price.

Thanks for the replies! We will send both sets of ACT scores. I will be doing that today.

RobD - No child at Vanderbuilt, just an extended family of crazy Gamecocks fans. We try to get to at least one game a year. We were so excited that Mizzou joined the SEC, now we can see them play closer to home.

Sacchi - Thanks for the list! Several of DD’s schools are on there, so happy to see that!

I was very proud of DD for getting her dual credit paperwork and transcript request taken care of by herself. I am definitely encouraging her to talk care of things, but I will jump in if needed. DD has had the same counselor since she began high school, and she knows that I keep on top of things. I think she knows that we will try to keep DD on the ball, and appreciates that. We do not have Naviance, so I am not sure yet what the procedures are for recommendations, etc. Our parent meeting isn’t until mid-Sept, I can’t believe that they expect us to wait so long! :)

DD13b made her first Unifieds audition appointment today! I don’t know whether to be excited or just scared s&*%less!

ACT Question…
When I go on the National Center for Educational Statistics by College and go to admissions…they post the Composite score and only English and Math subscores…
so my question is…
does this mean that they are primarily looking at the English and Math part of the ACT…more than the Reading and Science parts…
RobD…I think you (who is our numbers girl can answer this easily
or anyone else out there who is familiar with this data

Thanks

Walker, exciting! Ds just texted that he got his letter jacket today at school!

Walker: How exciting!!! Let us know how it goes :)

YDS: Yay for letter jackets!!!

Walker and Haystack…WooHoo!!!

YDS: YAY FOR LETTER JACKETS!!

Midwest: YAY FOR D TAKING CARE OF HER CRAP!!

Haystack: YAY FOR ACCEPTANCES!

WHY AM I YELLING?!

Just got back from the Professional Resume Writer. We should have S’s resume within the week. Then we will be able to finish the LOR packets for the teachers and GC. We are also making one for the GC who is dedicated to scholarships with a note asking for a Emory Scholar recommendation.

Walker, you made me laugh out loud! Thank you!!

On a personal note…this is my first child to send to college. Am I going to be teary eyed all year? I am not normally a crier, but I have to find a reason for why when I catch ‘This One’s For the Girls’ on the radio I get goosebumps and the tears start to come. Every time. I am starting to disgust myself, and it’s not even September yet!

Midwestmom: Stopped crying around Noon yesterday…and that was just the first day of school.

It’s going to be a long year :(

Can someone clarify my question… our public school GC said it takes 4 weeks (from his office to County to College) to transmit a transcript after the common app is submitted to a college. So I was wondering if I can ask GC to send transcript to our list of schools even before my DS submits his common app in order to avoid delays. Is that doable or not acceptable.

MDMom - Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone. The crazy thing is that I don’t particularly care for country music, but that song always finds me!

Today I heard the version of ‘Time After Time’ with Cyndi Lauper and Sarah MacLaughlin. It was so beautiful, it almost made me cry. It made me think of Sarah’s song ‘Ordinary Miracle’ which I love, and that made me think of Charlotte’s Web, which makes me cry on it’s own. The instruments in ‘Ordinary Miracle’ remind me of ‘Rainbow Connection’ with Kermit, which DD would sing from her carseat on the way back from Kindermusik…What is the drink for Tuesday?

Our girls took Kindermusik, too, MWMom2013!

SOOO far behind on congratulating, encouraging, and so on, so I won’t try to catch up.

Know that I’m with you guys for all good things! And the not so good, too :(

Isn’t it Tequila Tuesday…which I don’t care for, but I’ll find a substitute.

BTW, is it always 8th grade when teenage girls start getting mouthy?? I’m not liking that very much…

Ourgirls - Kindermusik was my saving grace as a young, stay at home mom. DD loved it, we went for years. Son, on the other hand, was never quite in the mood to for Hot Cross Buns :)

vbv8dad: I had my son’s school send his transcript and he hasnt applied yet either. That way, when he does apply, they will have everything.

OOOOOOO, I love Rainbow Connection - the lovers, the dreamers and me…

congrats on acceptances and honors. Wow, we have lots to celebrate. I will celebrate when S13 actually submits an application! :)

Tomorrow we learn how to send transcripts & given what I have read on this post, we will send transcripts & test scores this weekend, followed by common app & supplements. (to answer vbv8dad’s questions, yes send the transcripts, etc.)

We will also learn how to send LORs which I guess need to be sent asap, too. Goal is to have at least 3 applications done by mid-late September.

Galaxy: love Rainbow & Kindermusik, too. Seems like just yesterday…

No AP award yet but DD did get a letter from Harvard. Very impressive until I read on CC that they send out 70000 letters!
