Parents of the HS Class of 2015

Thanks @VMT, we will be closer by the time she goes to grad school if all goes as planned/hoped. I am kind of hoping that she brings a friend with her next year. We might even help to partially fund a friend’s airfare. Now that would be a lot of fun.

Back at college, a few more days of freedom then back to the grind.

@albert69, it may feel like a grind in some ways, but you are also at a very exciting time of your life. All the best as you start the next semester.

Yeah, I know @NorthernMom61. I was kind of kidding. I’m looking forward to it also. Thanks!

Oh , forgot to mention, one of my suitemates moved out, the partier. Don’t know why exactly, one of the other ones said that she said she was going to TX.

Sounds like good news for you @albert69! Good luck with 2nd semester.

Moving back to school today!! Classes start on Tuesday! <:-P And the thermometer reads -14, that’s actual temp! @-) Nice to know that, at least up to this point… S’15 spent the coldest part of winter so far, at home.

1st semester was busy, busy, busy :bz and yet he pulled out a very satisfactory GPA. =D> Here’s to a successful second and final act to Freshman year, for everyone. :)>-

DS starts Tuesday as well. One change is that he will now have a roommate so he is anxious about that. I’m sure he had gotten very comfortable in a room to himself since he had been alone since the first couple days of last semester. I’m hoping it will be a good experience for him (well for both of them). Otherwise he’s excited for his second semester classes.

Good luck to all!

A year ago we were all stressed waiting for acceptances with the hope of good scholarships to come in. This is actualy so much better, especially when they are thriving at the place where they ended up. We couldn’t be happier with how things worked our for our daughter.

I haven’t logged in here for a very long time, but it seems as though we are back at college apps. My D had a great first semester academically, but it’s obvious the school is not the right fit and so she will be transferring.

@jennie11 I’m sorry to hear your D isn’t happy at her school. I am sure she will be a great transfer candidate having had a very good first semester. Does she have some schools in mind?

@VMT, she does have some schools in mind and is open to looking at schools that she previously didn’t want to look at for one silly reason or another. She sees now that she focused on a very narrow set of criteria and that was foolish. Many schools require 30 credit hours to transfer so she won’t know her decisions until June after second semester grades are posted. It will make for a long semester and rushed summer, but hope she finds the right place when it’s over.

So sorry @jennie11 after I just posted how nice it was not to be in that application process of last year. Good luck to your daughter. I was kind of non-believer in putting so much stock in fit, but as luck would have it and a huge surprise to her father and I, our daughter did end up at the school on her list with absolutely the best fit. I don’t know what we would do if it wasn’t. It is a big deal. Again, good luck.

Thanks for the thoughtful words. She’ll find her spot, and this year is just confirming some things she thought she may or may not have liked about a school and will help her make a better decision later.

Best wishes to @LadyArwyn 's D as well.

Good point @albert69, haven’t seen @LadyArwyn in a while. Hopefully her time with her daughter was productive.

I’m here. Busy with life, though. My daughter is back in school, funding is fine, and she is making amends (literally - retaking one class per quarter to make up for her first semester grades). Her school hooked her up with an advisor who is working with her, and she seems to be responding pretty nicely. Hopefully the entire quarter goes as well.

That is great news @LadyArwyn

@LadyArwyn Good luck to your daughter, sounds like a solid plan is in place.

I’ve been following along, but haven’t posted much. DH is still dealing with his health issues with a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs. He was supposed to be getting a stem cell transplant this month but instead has started a new treatment that was just approved. We are hopeful.

DS had a great 1st semester socially and academically. He has been home for almost 5 weeks. He is scheduled to fly back to Iowa from the East Coast Saturday. Don’t think it is going to happen. He will be calling school and airline today to figure out any options. He would like to try and leave before the snow, but dorms don’t open until Saturday. Also, shuttles only run Saturday and Sunday so he has to find a way back to campus (airport is more then an hr away). I think he may not make it back until late in the week and will miss the 1st few days of the semester. I’m guessing this happens a lot at this school. I knew transportation and distance would be the biggest negative, but it’s all worth it to see how happy he is at school.

That’s great, @LadyArwyn. Best wishes for your son’s travel, @Mom24boys. It sure is hard getting places in the winter!
