Is there a thread that lists all the acceptances for 2019? Like with previous years
@natty1988 Yesā¦

@natty1988 if you mean specific for this threadā¦I am woefully behind in updating it. There will be one specific to schools and stats.
Waiting for my daughter to come home to see if we can push the button on Western Washington. Could we possibly be done? LOL
OMG!! Finally! University of Puget Sound it is! Button pushed, deposit made, swag purchased!
Thank you to all in this forum with your advice, encouragement and especially insider PNW knowledge!
YAY!! @rfm512
@rfm512 yay! Congratulations!
@rfm512 Congratulations! And with days to spare!
Congrats @rfm512 ! Itās a beautiful place to spend 4 years!
Congrats on the decision @rfm512
@natty1988 thanks for your comments on University of Nevada, Reno as we have just added it to our list (my S20 has a decent GPA but test scores that are average). We live in the Bay Area of CA so not too far from Reno and he prefers to stay in CA, NV, OR or AZ. We also have NAU and Sonoma State on our list (among others). Good luck to your S as he decides!
@thedreamydaisy Youāre welcome! Every time Iāve been on campus, Iāve been quite impressed. They have a beautiful older part of campus and they also have the ugly 60ās buildings and some impressive modern ones. There is also plenty of school spirit and they have a football team. Everyone I know who has gone there has liked it! The University also gets a lot of support within the community from what I hear and see. In Reno you see a lot of Wolf Pack banners, etcā¦
I love NAU and Flagtaff! All great choices!
UNR and NAU are part of WUE!
-I donāt know what the specific requirements are for WUE at UNR, so youād have to look on their websiteā¦
@rfm512
Yeah!!!
I think my daughter will push the button on Western WA tomorrow. I told her to do it and put the housing deposit on my credit card. Unsure why she feels like waiting.
@natty1988 thanks again! I have checked out the WUE requirements on the UNR website and I think he will likley qualify. His GPA is definitely good for WUE. He took his first ACT a few weeks ago and didnāt do so great (21 composite), so we likely wonāt even bother to send that score anywhere. Based on his PSAT, I think heāll do better on the SAT which heās taking in a week. If he doesnāt get where he needs to be (looks like he needs a 1240), then heāll take it again in summer/fall. With WUE at UNR, it brings the cost lower than a Cal State (unless he decides to live at home and commute to say Cal State East Bay).
Glad to hear you like NAU also. Weāre going to try to visit some places over the summer (especially those we can drive to easily).
@JBSeattle Iāll be thinking of you tomorrow! The waiting was kinda driving me nuts
so I definitely get it! From all the discussions on this thread, Western WA looks like a lovely school in a great town! I wish we had known about it earlier so we could have considered it as well!
Congrats @rfm512! Sounds like a wonderful choice!
My daughter is now waffling. She feels she worked too hard to go to Western, wants the great internship opportunities at Manhattan etc. She understands the cost difference which is why she is having trouble. It is roughly a $60k difference over 4 years. I would gift her $40k if she graduates from Western. $0 from Manhattan and she would need to do 10 hrs work study per week plus maintain 3.0 gpa for scholarship. Her current savings (been working long hours last few months, will work some this summer then maybe year between Frosh and Soph before going for internships that may be unpaid). She seems like she doesnāt really want to go to Western but realizes the cost difference. She would major in Marketing at both schools.
Any further thoughts?
Congrats @rfm512 !!! So happy for you guys!
@JBseattle good luck on the decision! I am not familiar with the two colleges but I bet they are great selections. We had our own conundrum with D14 - she ended up going to a school that was $10K per year over the instate which put her out $40K. But we ended up letting her go because it was a good school and she majored in nursing, so we felt she could get a job reasonably soon after graduation. She had to take a loan, so she understood that part. She is also an experiential person. It really was a great decision. We were very happy with the school and her experience. She says best four years so far! Still goes back from time to time.
Editing to say she had a job right away and the deal was she could stay home rent free to aggressively pay off her loan, which she is.
@cakeisgreat
My wife is even more anti-loan than me.
Your way makes sense though and thanks for sharing your experience.
