X26 had a tough freshman year due to their ADHD and anxiety. So far we’ve changed meds and it’s a lot better but still a lot of work to, well, get work done. They do really well in exams and are talented in math (which seems to spill over into subjects like chem and physics) so perversely are doing really well in the “hard” subjects but not so well in the ones others think are easy, just due to work not getting handed in really. That said - we are mostly As and Bs this semester so can’t complain. Honestly - given the anxiety angle, and the limited capacity for high workload for APs, right now we are thinking the best college option is a CC with TAG to a UC, likely targeting Santa Barbara both for its most real college-like CC experience as well as a good UC that’s also likely to be a good fit. I think they’d probably do well on the standardized tests, so we may look at some four year college apps too, but I can see that this is going to be a very different process than the elder sibling (who ended up at a T30).
