And in both cases it’s the kids that are mortified. I would bet the worst are those trying to relive the best/worst aspects of their college experience. There are some things our kids would just prefer we keep to ourselves.
Oh no, I have never visited any of my kids’ “college bars.” Whenever I visited my kids, it was having a nice dinner and then I was off to my room and them off to their parties.
I totally wouldn’t want to check out the bar scene at my daughter’s college but if she had gone to our alma mater, we would have been tempted to go visit old haunts that were still there.
Most of the bars around my college no longer exist. As for my D’s college, they still let people smoke in bars in Florida. That’s enough of a turnoff that neither us or our daughter would go.
Reminds me of the Springsteen song “Glory Days”.
