This practice is often followed by physicians who decline to identify themselves as Doctor on a flight because they don’t want to to spend the entire flight listening to some stranger’s cousin/aunt/brother/son’s weird symptoms and medical issues. Legally they cannot comment on a person’s medical conditions or diagnoses unless they first establish a doctor-patient relationship with the individual in question.
