Patience, all - update on 2024-25 FAFSA

I’m not sure I understand. Maybe this link explains what you want to know: Federal Student Aid.

Just added schools to Twin 2’s FAFSA.

Somewhat related news: Twin 1 got two aid letters today, with two more reportedly coming tomorrow.

I started a correction on my account because I thought that was where to add schools. I don’t need the correction now but instead of a completed application showing on my end it just shows that I have an open correction. When I add the schools will they send the former completed form or will they now be waiting for me to complete and submit this correction I don’t need, which I then assume will go back into review even though I won’t have changed anything.

Thanks kelsmom , we tried around 1am EST able to submit the signature with updated schools

How do you check which schools got our FAFSA & how do you add more schools?

You didn’t make any updates, so there’s nothing to submit. Just leave it alone, and nothing will happen - it’s fine.

The student’s FAFSA account will list the schools the FAFSA was sent to. As long as a school is listed, you may assume that they have received it. To add schools, follow the instructions on this link (it can only be done via the student’s FAFSA account): Federal Student Aid. Just add the schools and be sure to submit. You may remove schools if your student has 20 schools … but ONLY remove schools that the student is absolutely sure they won’t attend (replace those with the new schools).

I keep trying to add a school, but it keeps trying to go to verify contact information, then dumps me out on the settings page with nothing but a blinking blue dot. I can’t get to anything to edit from the actions tab. Not sure why it keeps going to the verify contact information page.

It sounds like either you are stuck due to one of the issues I outlined today in What’s Your FAFSA Status? thread or it’s a new issue. Try calling the helpline & please report the issue to FSA (link in the FAFSA Status thread).

Several schools have sent emails stating missing signatures on FAFSA.
FAFSA activity shows processed and NOWHERE do I see where we can submit a signature.
I have checked my parent page and the student one for my son. Tried calling FAFSA and just says high volume and to try again later.

Did you or your child make any changes since the FAFSA recently reopened for updates?

Richard Cordray, COO of FSA (part of DOE), is stepping down.

I hope that his replacement is much more in tune with reality than he was. There were so many missed opportunities to talk to stakeholders, and there was too much of-course-we-can-meet-the-deadline cluelessness.

Update for families with an undocumented parent(s)…who can now complete FAFSA:

Scratching my head on this announcement. Keep in mind FAFSA 2025/26 is quite behind at this point, with Oct 1 launch in doubt:

And Jon Boeckenstedt’s take, pointing out the obvious conflict of interest:

Well…if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black…nothing is. Or maybe it’s the blind leading the blind.

Shame on FSA for not being ready for the October 1 FAFSA launch. Shame on them. This caused endless headaches for students and financial aid departments. Just a huge mess…that now they have known about…but including the problems for a long time.

Just plain awful!!

I find this concerning. Hey, I run a company that can do this work for ED. Let me get a firsthand look at your operation so that I can figure out a way to get you to privatize FSA … using my company, of course.

Sorry, but this company doesn’t have a great track record for running their own company!
