Commuter students may select a meal plan by submitting a Off-Campus Meal Plan Agreement application. To select a meal plan log in and access the application through the Housing Portal. If the application is not available after logging in, email cjporter@umw.edu to request access.
It took me all of two minutes to look this up.
I lived off campus and I couldn’t afford a meal plan. They are expensive. I was on a scholarship.
My roommate had limited funds and she couldn’t afford to pay the meal plan. We pooled our resources and had lots of quick meals. Quesadillas, bean burritos (yes, I taught her how to make refried beans), rice, Top Ramen, pastas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, tomato soup and lots of water.
(Our middle daughter lived off campus for three of the four years and we put her on a budget. It was a lot cheaper for her to make full meals, in her apartment, rather than go on the meal plan.)
We were fortunate that my university subsidized coffee for students (with id’s) as part of our AS fees. We paid a quarter for TO-GO black coffee and they provided the cream and toppings.
If you’re on a need based scholarship you’re going to need to watch your pennies.
