At this point in the 21st century, most computers are platform agnostic. So it really comes down to taste and preference. If you’re used to using an iPad, then a Macbook is a natural fit because the ecosystem gives you a few features you wouldn’t otherwise have with a Windows machine. I’ve used Windows computers for years and they work just fine for our everyday needs.
