@conmama Yay, glad your pies turned out good. A good pecan pie is definitely one of my favorite desserts. You think that is unhealthy, you should try my Apple Chip cake that my Granny used to make. I think I will make one for the holidays, and then come January I am going to have to make some healthier choices going forward.
The best pecan pie recipe I’ve ever found is Chef John’s on the internet. It features toasted pecans, and is much better than the usual sickening sweet stuff. I found it a few years ago when my son and his (now-ex, sob!) GF requested pecan pie for Thanksgiving. They both said it was the best they’d ever had.
An amusing side story: at that time I actually started a pecan pie recipe thread here, because I’d never made it. One wise poster suggested that the GF would probably like best whatever her family recipe was, so I asked her. Turns out that her family tradition for TG was to go to a restaurant and order off the menu, and she usually had steak!
