As a long time lurker, I felt compelled to create an account since your daughter’s numbers and story are virtually the same as my own daughter.
Long story short, in my opinion the answer is “maybe”.
We have been consistently told that UGa computes its own weighted grade point average. In that weighting, only core classes are considered, and only AP classes are given a 5. Dual enrollment classes, which my daughter has 15 as a graduating senior, are not given the bonus.
That said, I’m not entirely convinced its true. Or at a minimum, it’s part of a composite of numbers for EA. She had a 35 ACT superscore, and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. She was accepted early action, invited to the Honors program automatically, and invited to the Foundation Fellowship Interview Weekend. She had some killer extra curriculars, but I don’t think that impacts EA.
Your daughter is probably looking at 1500+ for a new SAT score. If that’s the case, I think she has an extremely good chance at EA next school year, and plenty of additional opportunities as well.
Good luck either way!
