My D26 applied yesterday and now we understand how to submit SAT scores. I know PSU doesnāt superscore, but you can submit multiple test date scores. Would it be worth it for her to do that? She has a 1510 (790M, 720R) and a 1490 (720M, 770R). Sheās applying to Smeal.
Since they donāt super score I donāt think there is a point. I would just plan to report the 1510.
Is there any disadvantage if you complete the Schreyer app by dec1 and not Nov1.looks like my son will not be ready with his essays.
Iād just submit the 1510. The really only want to see single sitting and since itās over 1500, it wonāt help you any to submit the other score as well.
I do agree that 1510 is an amazing score.
Joining the chorus to say 1510 is amazing. No need to submit the other one (which doesnāt really bring any new information anyway: top math&English student).
The only difference is that if he submits by Nov 1 he will have the option of adding an interview, which works well for students who are eloquent and personable, but is not required and isnāt added to the application as a bonus.
Itās much more important to have a solid application, especially the essays.
My son has applied to Penn State for Education. He applied for undecided/education. He now thinks he wants to major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Is it worth to attempt to change his āmajorā? Is it even possible?
Thanks all! I think we were just overthinking because we were surprised you could submit multiple scores.
Last year my D25 emailed a random AO on Nov 11 and requested to switch from Smeal to DUS. On Nov 13 she was accepted into DUS. So last year you could switch.
It wouldnāt change anything so he can do it by emailing to be precise but it wouldnāt change anything for Admissions.
The interview is the advantage. My son is in Schreyer and did do the interview. Not sure whether the interview was the deciding factor but it is included as part of the application. I know a very qualified candidate last year who didnāt interview and didnāt get in. Obviously, there are students who didnāt interview that got accepted though. The essays are really one of the most important parts of the application. They look for students who are intellectually curious and high achieving students. The essays are reviewed by at least two people and scored. If the scores differ greatly then the essays are reviewed by a third person. They look at grades, rigor, and recommendations as well and interview if completed. SAT scores are not reviewed for Schreyer, although many of the students had/have very high SAT scores. Good luck to your student. We are extremely impressed with Schreyer Honors College.
Not to jinx a potential outcome here, but does anyone know when Admitted Student Days tend to start? Is this a February/March kind of schedule, or do those skew earlier or later in the calendar?
