Yes, I agree with you. If denied,we will ask for DUS but will be prepared knowing it will be a last ditch, Hail Mary request. It was odd, my OOS has excellent stats but was and is holding firm on Smeal. Will not ask at this time for DUS. Like I said, having another big ten offer in pocket helps. They don’t teach you any of this in the “how to be a parent handbook”. It’s stressful,
DD got 2+2 acceptance first week of december last year when applying to Smeal. Requested reconsideration to DUS immediately. Was accepted Fall Start DUS at the end on January. DD’s friend requested reconsideration slightly later and did not get it. My guess is that they filled DUS at the end of january last year.
Ok! Both parents created a FSA ID though, should I just ignore the one I didn’t invite?
Has anyone that was accepted on Dec.22nd received their welcome packet yet?
We got ours today.
It was in the mailbox yesterday.
Got it today
Ignore this, my question was answered
Ignore this, my question was answered
Good morning. Is anyone who applied EA still waiting for a decision?
yes - OOS BArch
sounds like BArch are backed up - but has anyone else called Admissions who expected to be EA ? What are they telling you ?
Film production - she was deferred
Yes we are EA - Engineering, no response, and called last week and they said to keep checking basically. No accountability for the fact that they are leaving kids who took the time to apply EA in limbo.
Yes, you only need one parent account. If they are married the answers include both of them. If divorced, you use the parent who provides the most financial support (and their spouse if remarried).
That is a bummer. Totally agree.
A few quick questions;
- if given summer, will your child accept?
- where does this stand on list of schools?
- would your kid consider switching to DUS?
- what about EMS (engineering majors there)
Just like the Smeal conversations above - engineering ETM (entrance to major) can be completed from DUS.
If this is a top school, I think there are things that can “help” make application an easier admit.
(Any test score updates? Taken Calc and Physics?)
Feel free to DM me and we can talk-
For the Smeal applicants, I have a suspicion that they like SAT/ACT scores being submitted. This is just from what I witnessed in who got results back quicker and which ones were held back, deferred or given 2+2. My son was test optional, everything else was pretty high on his stats but still didn’t get a response until Dec 22. Our school guidance counselor was about to write a letter on his behalf to say he was ranked top 5 students when we received the response. The admissions operator (sweet older woman) told me back in October that I should submit scores if possible. Again, this is just what I’m thinking from everything I observed.
My son is EA Engineering too…this stinks but glad he is not the only one.
Hi, I have followed your responses and know that you are very knowledgeable. My son was accepted to the Harrisburg Campus for Political Science and asked for reconsideration by changing his major to Sociology/Criminology ( which are obviously in the same college as Poly Sci and doesn’t change anything). He did choose to opt for Summer if it betters his chances for UP. Which they said it should.
My question is should he send another email saying he would switch to DUS or just leave it alone?
Just in case Lucy doesn’t see your message right away and you are tempted to send the email, I can say that DUS is more competitive, harder to get into. The hardest at the moment seem to be
Smeal,
Engineering,
DUS
Also the nursing program from what we’ve seen.
