Penn State Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

Has your son heard any acceptances for the pre business

My daughter did the same. She was proud of her scores and felt that it enhanced her overall application. Shes not in the super high stats category but did apply for UP summer start / Media Studies major. Hoping for some luck here!

My daughter also submitted her scores and then changed to TO but she literally goes back and forth about it every day. Not sure if she is making the right decision but its truly hard to know. Her guidance counselor agreed with me that her ACT score actually does not enhance her application and these schools are now enjoying the ability to brag about their higher inflated test scores and hers falls just below the 50% mark (even though her score would have been a completely acceptable score prior to TO). This whole process makes my head spin lol

Exactly. TO is messing with my brain and just making the process more difficult. How did you determine if the scores enhanced your application?

We compared her GPA and test scores to others in her school since they will receive a school profile. Her GPA is top 25% of her class but her ACT score was just above average and just below the inflated PSU 50%. Had she scored even 1 point higher on the ACT she would have submitted it. But that is how crazy this has become - her score might be great for someone with a lower GPA but she wasn’t happy with it so she ultimately decided not to submit.

No, he hasn’t. One person at his school got accepted last week, but he is a high stat engineering major. Last year’s posts seemed to indicate that the Business kids didn’t start hearing back till early December. Maybe this is because Business kids tend to have slightly lower stats than the engineer majors, or the business admissions officers take longer to finish up.

Ohhh okay gotcha I didn’t know they got the schools profile.

I don’t think they get the actual profile that would be sent with an official transcript but you are still required to provide the name of your HS and admissions is familiar with different high schools and how they rank etc.

I think maybe business must take a bit longer. He has had several friends get in engineering
Comp sci and bio. Thanks for replying

OMG!!! I am feeling exactly what you typed. Scores submitted, then withdrawn. Don’t know if it was the right decision, because she’s just under the mark (like you said) and I wish we could just go back and include them without looking nuts!

My recommendation would be that the score doesn’t matter
-if you have taken an AP or 2 in your chosen fields with scores of 4-5 (ie., Engineering= Calc and Physics, CS=Calculus and CS or Physics
)
-if you took college level classes at a known college or public state university in subjects related to your pre major and got an A
-if you’re applying for a major that doesn’t have any math
Because your transcript gives them enough information.

I just got accepted to University Park for forensic science! Is this a pretty on-time decision for early action? I haven’t found any others accepted for forensic science yet.

My daughter applied test optional. Her test score tab disappeared last night around 7. We checked Lionpath and her acceptance letter was there. Official email came at 12:04 this morning. 3.94uw/4.066w, TO, in state, 4AP, 8 honors, lots of ECs and volunteering. Both parents alumni. Admitted to UP fall ‘25, College of Health & Human Dev, Kinesiology major. Good luck to everyone!!

Congrats!!! Do I need LionPath to check my admission decision? All I have is the MyPennState portal.

Honestly, not really other than you are assigned a Smeal advisor from day 1. But the DUS advisors will be able to guide and give advise on the entrance to major.

Lionpath was not accessible to us until last night. I’m guessing once you are an accepted student, you automatically get access using the same login as the portal. Good luck!
