What time do they email out decisions? 4:00pm or randomly?
You can check after ~7pm (EST) to see if your test optional button disappears and then check lionpath or they will send an email just after midnight that there has been a change to the portal and you can check the application portal
If you change your test-optional answer, will you have to wait longer to hear back?
My daughter applied EA and is waiting for a decision for Psychology. Anyone hear from this department yet?
If you applied early action and also applied to Schreyer could that be a reason why an applicant has not heard yet?
So my daughter applied to UP for Psychology. She has a lower gpa of maybe a 3.1/3.2 however she switched to a much harder high school her sophomore year where she was very behind and also lost her father and grandfather both unexpectedly within a few weeks of each other at the same time. Her grades dipped some due to all of that however she bounced back Jr year with amazing grades. Will colleges take these things into consideration? Considering the things sheâs been through sheâs one tough cookie how has persevered for sure! She has letters of recommendation highlighting her struggles and improvements. She did put that she was will to do summer start! Just looking to see if anyone else has experience with anything like this?
She has been accepted to 6 other D1 schools so far but PSU UP is her top. We are also in state about 30 mins from UP.
No Schreyer is entirely separate and not managed by Admissions. Results for Schreyer are announced in February-March.
GPA is 3.6 - Coursework rigor trends higher as he progresses through high school.
Math through Algebra 3
2 APs
5 Honors Classes
4 years of language
He was initially leaning towards journalism or writing, but became unsure and applied DUS. He has no interest in math/science areas.
nope, still waiting, heard some other psych majors have heard back though
Has anyone heard of possible rejections yet?
If he doesnât get into DUS, he could ask for reconsideration for the major linked to the language he studied in HS - ie., if he studied Spanish->Spanish major, if he studied French-> French studies, if he studied Chinese->Asian Studies or Chinese ⊠it seems to me that these majors are rarely denied at 3.6 with level 4 or AP in the language. (Not so easy for the more common case of students with level 3 and difficult if level 2).
Another possibility is the English major with the Professional Writing concentration.
+Check summer.
Indicate youâd want to be a Paterno Aspirant (more opportunities, great classes, special LEAP).
He would have a pretty broad 1st semester in any case and can schedule the following classes to keep as many majors open as possible:
English 15/30H/137H
African American studies or American studies or Global Studies or xxx studies
A Gen Ed Science for non majors
Foreign language level 3
Cla freshman seminar
With good grades in these he can ask to pivot to a Bellisario major or figure out what major in CLA appeal to him.
anyoneâs test box disappear yet?
Nope
nope
Nope!
nope
Can I ask your opinion on whether a candidate with those exact stats but OOS would be considered a good candidate for Psych @UP? I have lots of ECs, including research, but I keep stressing so much checking my portal and my TO button is still there. Do I even have a chance, or is it unlikely?
No but honestly wasnât expecting any decisions the day after break.
Nope
You may be right. I would of thought they would have looked over more apps today though.
