I think he’s good. If he is turned down for DUS he can then ask for reconsideration for another major but his stats make DUS likely.

Does anyone know when summer session for freshman begins and ends in 2025? Just googled it and can’t seem to find it. Can only find the regular summer sessions for current students.
Classes start 7/2, finals 8/15.

Penn State summer session for Freshman is called LEAP and generally coincides with Summer Session II - which for 2025 means classes would start July 2 and students would arrive several days before that. Classes end Aug 13 and students would have to move out of the dorm. They often offer the option to store belongings on campus in your new room (store only, not move in) or there are a ton of storage places around campus.

DD 3.83W/3.72 UW - applying test optional and summer session as first choice. Mom and brother are an alumnus.
This is her first choice, and I am wondering her chances. She actaully wants Summer as she has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and this will help her ease into college.
In some instances it depends on her major. What is her first choice major?
Then I’ll leave the chances up to the experts as I am definitely not one lol

Should I ask to change my major to increase my chances? I submitted my application on 9/1. (Reference: Penn State is far and away my number one option. My stats are 3.6 UW 3.74 W (7 AP, 8 Honors). 1250 SAT, submitted. I applied DUS and Summer Session on the Penn State portal. I am in state and have a brother that currently attends. Do I have a good shot?)
Decent. Wait till you hear back, you can change your major if they don’t accept you to Dus.

Hello! My daughter applied on 8/1. Instate. 4.04 Weighted GPA. Lots of AP and honors classes. Answered the optional essay. Criminology Major. She applied test optional but now wondering if its better to submit her 28 ACT. Thanks for your advice!
S25 applied 10/14. OOS engineering, 1520 SAT, 3.95 UW/4.5 W GPA, on track for IB diploma. Used common app essay for personal essay.

Hello - How do you report AP scores to Penn State?
You request to have them sent to Penn State directly from College Board. It is similar to requesting that College Board send SAT/ACT scores – you just have to go to the portion of the site that lists your AP results and there is a “Send Your Scores” button.

With a 4.04WGPA and high rigor, I think she will be ok because criminology is in the college of liberal arts. If for some reason she is denied, you can always ask for reconsideration to DUS (undecided), but I think she will be ok. @MYOS1634 might have more insight into criminology.
My daughter has a 3.6 UW and 3.8W, She applied elementary education, but I’m wondering how hard it is to get into that major?
My nephew had a 3.2 UW and was accepted into elementary education at UP for Fall 2023.

Agree. Sit tight, she’ll be fine.
Elementary Ed is not too requested so she should be fine, no problem, especially if she has had ECs that involve children, tutoring, etc.
