Yes you can but it’s only useful if your GPA is around 3.5 – keeping in mind Econ 102 is weed out so you should save it for Spring semester, taking it in the Fall would be very risky; basically you’ll need to take Stats 200, English 15/30H, World Language 002 or 003, plus Communication courses. If after that your GPA is 3.5 your GPA can take the hit from Econ 102 and keep you at a GPA that keeps Smeal in the picture.
Not sure where this post went - sorry if it’s a repost @mmurphy925
Are you checking summer too for reconsideration?
Hello, my daughter emailed an admission officer about the reconsideration. The nice person emailed back very quickly and told her she could do a reconsideration or my daughter could submit the letter she sent to the admission officer with any supporting documentation to the admissions office for an appeal. I am trying to see what is better but I cannot locate any information on it. My daughter got the 2+2 program but wants a UP summer start. And, she is changing her major to English “creative writing”. (Thank you again for your help with that!) In your opinion, any difference in those? I am leaning more toward the appeal, but she is changing her major as well. Just wanted to get your thoughts…thanks!
I would strongly advise checking “summer” in this case
If she changes her major to English/Creative writing+Summer start there should be enough difference to result in a different result.
If that doesn’t work, she can prepare an appeal with info from her letter, first semester grades (hopefully straight As - if she needs any motivation for finals…) and any new information such as test scores, distinctions, etc., again for Summer&English (?)
I wouldn’t burn the “appeal” option yet since asking for reconsideration is “de facto” a right she got by applying Priority.
Did Penn send out acceptance for Engineering yet?
TO button is gone . Something is happening. Now we wait.
To button gone here too
S test optional button still there. This is getting comical. He applied for engineering with a 35 ACT.
Gone…the final wait….
Try logging into lionpath…I think a few said their buttons didn’t disappear but were able to get into lionpath.
to button still there. i can’t with this wait.
TO button gone. Access to Lionpath but no letter yet. My daughter thinks I am nuts!
As someone mentioned already:-
- For some folks TO button didn’t disappear but they are still able to login to lionpath - so don’t be discouraged if TO still there
- Since the past week results are being released in batches between 7pm to 9pm EST, so there’s still a chance.
PSU admissions are working at war scale now to finish the backlog in time. If you have strong stats, you will get through.
Borderline stats run the greatest risk of deferral as we approach Dec 24th. They may not want to offer you 2+2 yet.
Great info! Thank you again! You are awesome! And yes, summer and a different major (was communications…now English) GPA is now unweighted at 3.8 (taking honors and AP classes) and all A’s since Freshman year in Language arts classes. Her unweighted GPA would be a @ 3.9-4 (out of 4) except for her freshman year grades (a math a science class with B-. Per the letter my daughter wrote regarding why those 2 grades were low in Freshman year, (that was not mentioned in original submission) I think that may be why the Admission Rep suggested the appeal because of this new information. But I like your thinking, why go to the last level with an appeal at this point.
TO still there and denied access to lionpath. I guess I was under the impression they all get at least 2+2 and wasn’t even thinking deferral. Oh well.
There’s a Clery Act letter in LionPath but no other letters. Do multiple letters usually show up?
As per PSU admissions, Deferral is one of the possible decisions by Dec 24th. In fact last year quite a few were deferred.
But let’s hope for the best. I can totally understand what everyone who’s still waiting for a decision is going through.
One more decision letter will show up after an hour or so. You’re almost there.
