Thanks, qd. I stand corrected.

Paterno’s name is on the Big 10 championship trophy with Amos Alonzo Stagg. The Stagg family says that if this is true, they will have lots of discussions with the Big 10 because they will not allow their name to be associated with him. The comment was that it’s inexcusable.

Sandusky had an office in the football department. Paterno knew him for 9 years after he was told Sandusky raped a boy in the football team’s showers. He stayed his friend. He enabled him to run his youth program at Penn State. More children were raped. That is not excusable morally. He is repugnant. Penn State fans, you’ll just have to accept the truth: if your child was raped and this man not only stayed friends with the rapist but let him have an office and let him bring more children in, what would you do to that man? Repugnant. Hideous. Firing is too good for him.

Does the DA have to present ALL of their evidence to the grand jury? Is it possible that the DAs office has more evidence against Curley and Schultz that is not in the grand jury report?

After reading the report and considering JHSs posts as arguments in Curley and Schultzs defensive if I were on the jury I would believe McQuerys testimony. It is inconceivable to me that McQuery, a mere GA would call Paterno, go to his home on a Saturday morning and NOT lay out ALL of the facts (as he saw it) to support his reason for being upset enough to bring Sanduskys shower incident DIRECTLY to Paternos attention. Curley and Schultz on the other hand have every reason (legally and morally) to lie about how much they knew and when they knew it. Also, Schultz admits in the grand jury report to knowing about the 1998 incident.

It’s OK Penn State alum…nobody is coming for your degree.

Well, I didnt go to PSU. My kid did. But I would really like to know the facts. I tend to believe the GA and I tend to believe thay should all resign. However there is plenty of time now to do this thing right. DUke lacross destroyed a bunch of boys and their coach and they were innocent. Lets learn from that.

The END may be near…Trustee meeting moved from friday

RT @NateBauerBWI: Source reporting to BWI publisher Phil Grosz that BOT will meet tomorrow morning to discuss Graham Spanier’s status.

I have heard that the DA supports Paterno. She was appointed by the current Governor who is on the Board of Trustees.
I would like to hear what Paterno has to say. He is currently muzzled by the school. If they terminate him he will be free to speak.

Everyone keeps bringing up the Duke lacrosse case, but I dont see the similarities. The DA in the Duke case rushed to bring an indictment w/o having all of the facts.

In Sanduskys case it is my understanding that the DA has been investigating and establishing a case since the incidents with victim 1 were reported by his hs to the authorities in 2008-2009 .

^ Yes, very different cases.

Minor clarification, but the charges were brought by the PA. Attorney General, who is a woman who has been in office for 9 months. Her office was assisted by the State Police in this investigation. It appears that the Penn State Police and the County District Attorney dropped the ball in the past in fully investigating at least one previous incident that was reported to them.

How’s this for irony. Gary Schultz is the VP of Administration who was charged with failing to report the anal rape of a 10 year old to the police. Two months ago, Penn State named their new $8 million day care center as the “Gary Schultz Child CARE Center.”

The assumptions made without all the facts are the same. Remember the faculty that came out against the lacrosse players. Step back let the facts be known. Is it possible that Joe Paterno has earned some benefit of doubt after a history of apparently conducting himself in a decent manner. Now maybe he should be condemned for what he did but can we wait for the entire story to play out.

No one is comparing the action of the DA we are comparing the rush to judgment by the public to react against Paterno or the lacrosse players without all the information.

By the way geeps what was your reaction when the faculty lambasted the lacrosse players?

That Twitter feed is unreal.

Tom…different animal…reading the GJ report is enough to form an opinion on what happened.

No. You can’t just cherry-pick one small aspect of what happened that sounds like it might have been innocent when taken by itself. The “worst” thing the victim accused Sandusky of was having the child take a shower with him naked in the first place, under the same shower head (when the kid wanted to stand far away) along with all the rest. The victim was what, 11?

I can’t believe McQuerey testified that he saw the rape and …then, walked away. What kind of a person does not intervene in that situation?

geeps I read it and do not agree with you. You cherry pick your view. You do not have a complete set of facts in that report. You do not know and either do I what Joe Paterno did or did not do. As I have said in several posts he may well be due all the harsh condemnation but he also may not.

How do you know in the Duke incident the faculty did not read that GJ report?

One thing to keep in mind is that somebody who is under investigation by a Grand Jury does not get to present a defense or any evidence whatsoever. The Grand Jury goes simply on what the prosecutor’s office presents to it.

Any legal experts want to opine on whether this was an actionable incident under the child abuse statutes? The prosecutor apparently decided it was not. Improper, yes. Criminal? Perhaps not under the statute (if I knew what it was).
