Penn State Sandusky scandal

Amendola’s defense strategy of discrediting McQueary is really PSU’s defense. If they can discredit McQueary, even if Sandusky ends up guilty, PSU can claim innocence of any coverup.

^ Who is paying the bills for Amendola’s work on Sandusky’s defense, PSU???

"If you believe that, Amendola said, “I suggest you dial 1-800-REALITY.”

It turns out that’s a number for gay-sex phone service . A recorded introduction says the phone chat forum is “the hottest place for triple-X action.”

Gmw: However, Amendola is not demonstrating a competent defense in which to discredit anyone.

wonder about McQueary, if he states he isn’t sure what he told Paterno afterall he protects PSU, but puts his former testimony to the GJ at question.

Seems there is a lack of boundaries in many ways, on many levels…

I agree in the legal courts – it benefits PSU to discredit McQ but not in the court of public opinion. The public’s perception that PSU’s top admin failed to report Sandusky - thus allowing him to continue to abuse little boys is not going to change just because PSU wins the legal battle. In fact if PSU’s legal fight ends up helping Sandusky’s defense, public opinion of PSU will be even worse. Have you noticed that Sandusky’s attorney is calling his showering w/ little boys “mere horseplay” – the same phrase used be Schultz.

The GJ report stated McQueary told Paterno “what he had seen.” The grand jury report was not any more specific than this. We do not know exactly what McQueary told Paterno or exactly what he told the grand jury he stated to Paterno.

I wonder if Sanduskys attorney could be disbarred for misconduct based on his statement on the 1.800 number? I would see that as harassment towards the victims.

Gay =/= pedophile

Sandusky …male. victims… male. Sandusky preferred same sex victims.

“I wonder if Sanduskys attorney could be disbarred for misconduct based on his statement on the 1.800 number? I would see that as harassment towards the victims.”

It is very possible, even probable Amandola had no idea it was an actual working number. Still, inept on his part.

you’re right about the GJ report Sax…when I read it I wondered about that discrepancy between what McQueary stated he observed and told the GJ and what he said he told Paterno.

Amendola is disgraceful imho, a fight to the death??? He does seem to be purposefully harassing the victims. At least one of the victims claimed Sandusky threatened to harm his family if he told. This may be an attempt to revive earlier threats to harm them.

“Jerry Sandusky maintains his innocence, and we’re going to fight like hell for it,” Amendola said in a lengthy press conference outside the county courthouse. He said that “we’re going to attack the credibility (of witnesses) whichever way we can.”
“This is a fight to the death,” Amendola said, calling it “the fight of Jerry Sandusky’s life.”

Yuh, “fighting” is all he has left. I guess he is implying that it will be tough, that no words or arguments can begin to save S!

fight to the death
to engage in a battle that isn’t finished until one opponent is dead

sax, your point in #3529?

One good thing that may come of the Sandusky and especially the Fine case is that New York will finally change its very restrictive statute of limitations on child abuse cases.

Good question. When an adult male molests a little girl, does that mean that heterosexual = pedophile?

In fact, the vast majority of adult men who molest little boys (not counting Catholic priests, of course) are married, have children, identify as heterosexual, etc. I haven’t heard of many (any) out gay men who go around molesting children. Most people, gay and straight, are attracted to adults, not children. Most people, gay and straight, realize at some point in their 20’s that even college students (never mind high school students) suddenly start looking like babies. Being a pedophile has nothing to do with being gay or straight.

Livelovepink,
Absolutely. It is against the law for them NOT to report it and probably against the law for that asst. principal to reveal the victim.

I don’t know how any of them can live with themselves after protecting a suspected child rapist over a defenseless boy.

Are there lesbian pedophiles? You don’t hear much about it. Maybe its overwhelmingly a male thing.

Isn’t this why we need to wait for all the information to come out- earlier of this thread it was pointed out that “if not for the teacher at the school taking action” now this contradicts all of that.
How are we to take the DA congratulating the school and now the mother disputes that.

"Ironically, on Nov. 7, Central Mountain High School was praised by Pennsylvania State Attorney General Linda Kelly for “doing the right thing” regarding the Sandusky matter. According to the indictment, the school immediately called the police when it became aware of the abuse, a fact that this mother firmly refutes.

In a statement Gillum made regarding the actions of the school compared to their statements regarding their actions, he said, “Given the disparity between the actions taken when the initial symptoms were observed and the mother requested intervention to determine whether or not he was being victimized by this man, and then for the school officials to resist pursuing law enforcement or children and youth services, then later down the road to have officials claim that they were suspicious of Jerry Sandusky, or concerned about him, is obviously not congruent.”

S lost his last chance to be a human and not the monster that he seems to be. He could have saved those “alleged” victims more pain and suffering by apologizing and accepting his fate. He could have saved them from having to relive these terrible moments in front of the court and admitted what he had done. Of course I am presuming that he is guilty, which because I am not a lawyer or affiliated with the case at all, am free to do. He lost his chance to finally do the right thing and is trying one last desperate attempt to get out of the hole he has dug. Why let the victims speak yesterday when all that would accomplish is to make S look bad. Also, I am not sure if it matters if it goes to trial. With the nonsense his lawyer has been up to, putting him on TV, skipping these prelims, I am sure there will be a motion for a mistrial because of incompetence on the lawyers part.
