@airway1 great idea re immunizations- you will be amazed at how many students need to be quarantined at college- it’s not very good for their GPA to miss several weeks of class.
Congrats @MyaCocoa !! You have been the epitome of grace under crazy and illogical circumstances. So glad your son got the decision he deserved. I only wish it had been months ago! Good luck to him!
@skibunny2 at penn state you must fill in their immunization form or your kid cannot attend new students orientation or register for classes
@MyaCocoa - did your son get an email saying that the portal had been updated or did you just keep checking and notice it? My son’s portal (he was waitlisted too) now says “your application is under review”. I don’t know when that updated from the waitlist notice. Does that mean a change is coming soon??
@Snickers1234 On Thursday afternoon the portal had said the wait list had been completely decided and the portal would update in 3-5 business days. By the next day the portal just gave the “under review” message. By the time I randomly woke up at about 1:30 AM Saturday morning the portal had switched to acceptance.
I am SO glad I saw the “wait list is all done” on Thursday, because it was more informative than what came after! I guess I had “wrongly” assumed that ALL the wait list was notified by Saturday. I’m sorry, but it does look like you’re in the 3-5 business day window.
@greenbutton FYI, my son requested, and was made, this delicacy! https://www.layersofhappiness.com/ultimate-death-chocolate-cheesecake/ It’s a 2-day affair. Please note unless you like eating raw eggs, go buy pasteurized eggs for the mousse. Also, I do recommend the optional almond extract. Would post a photo of ours here if I could! It is well worth the effort. Don’t use as many cookies in the crust as it says, because then the cheesecake batter wouldn’t all fit in the pan! Danged, we had to eat it raw! Delicious and we lived.
@Snickers1234 As to the e-mail, I don’t believe my son ever got one. I just would check the portal whenever I got near my laptop.
@MyaCocoa thanks for info. We hadn’t been checking the portal frequently b/c we thought it would be closer to May 1 that they would take from the waitlist. I’m not sure how can they have the waitlist completely decided before the May 1 deadline but I guess that just goes with the whole process this year. BTW, very happy to hear your son got in - I’ve been following your story for months!

Congratulations to everyone who got off the waitlist to UP! 
I’m a senior in high school and have been nervously fretting. I applied to Penn State around March (I know, late) and they’ve waitlisted me.
Honestly, I don’t think I will get off the waitlist because it’s been competitive this year and because of how late I applied.
According to common data, 41 out of 76 waitlisted kids were accepted in 2018-2019.
I have a 4.3 GPA, 3.9 UW, but a low SAT score (1070), and applied for the liberal arts school and summer session.
All I can do now is wait till May and cross my fingers If anybody has any advice on for me to improve my chance to get off the waitlist, or any idea of my chances of getting accepted now, let me know!
@shinyrock03 I actually read an article the other day on this very thing. I can’t find it now! But the two things that stuck with me: 1) Continue to express interest in the school while you are waiting 2) Contact your REGIONAL admissions person. I looked up and PSU only has “regional” recruiters for some areas (not ours!) but if your area does, try to talk to them.
My son was waitlisted for UP and his status changed (not sure when) to application under review. It’s been that way since earlier this week at least and still hasn’t updated. Anyone else have this happen? I read in an earlier post that they said they were updating waitlist status with 3-5 business days (that was last week) but I think that timeframe has passed now. I would imagine if he didn’t get off the waitlist it would be updated to say that. Any ideas?
@snicks1234 first I would like to say I am really rooting for your waitlist student-hoping the slow news is great news!
I would call and ask- you have waited a long time for this answer.
