People with "being reviewed by the admission committee" status

Hey dj,
I auditioned for theater, as did you. The GPA and SAT/ACT scores aren’t a very big deal for those of us trying to get into the theater program. The audition is everything. You should follow the Theater/Drama Majors forum here on CC, and read all the stuff on USC there. There have only been two acceptances so far. ONLY TWO!! So for theater, it’s not getting late at all. I actually spoke to someone in the theater department about two weeks ago, and she told me that “we will be making offers to our top choices first; then we have counteroffers; then we make our way down our list. It takes awhile, but we will notify by April 1.” I didn’t want to be a pest and ask for a detailed explanation about “offers” and “counteroffers,” so I just said thanks and let her go. I had actually phoned about something else, so I only wanted to take minimal time asking about when we would hear from them. If they want us, it will be because of our audition. Then they run it by Admissions to make sure our stats don’t keep us out. But I gotta say, that stuff about offers and counteroffers threw me for a loop. I have never, never read anything on CC about that! I wonder how it is that they “negotiate” their way to a full class.
