Personal Essay::Whats Your Subject??

anyone considered their essays fun? i did :P

Atrophicwhisper : have you read the book The Namesake? … Kinda like what you described, you might find it interesting. It is just about some kid and his name. It is a movie now, but I haven’t seen it.

stuttering.

Dying my hair red.

wrote about my experience in a university lab and how it helps me grow as a person.

i wrote about psoriasis…

wanting to throw away a photograph

and the other one was about eating tostitos with strangers during a brushfire

i wrote about last year’s science fair and how i actually developed an interest in science from it because my teacher didn’t believe my project worked and i had to prove it. at first i wanted to do something serious and artistic, but i decided to save that for the harder ivy essays/personal statement. it’s kinda anecdotal but i think it’s coming along well. it contrasts well with my more serious essays.

@ atrophicwhisper: the namesake!

about an essay that makes fun of the admissions process: as long as you’re not leveling criticism at the adcoms themselves, i think it would work. the admissions board members are well aware that the process is ridiculous, i don’t think they’d be crushed. they look for honesty and if it’s well written (and cuRRent, as i’ve read your stuff–i’m sure it would be), then i’d bet that they would appreciate it.

i also found writing my essays to be fun. in truth, i heartily enjoy talking about myself, plus school doesn’t really provide any opportunities for creative writing anymore so i appreciate any chance i get.

These are all so great! I wish I could read them all. Ha, after we all apply to college we should compile an anthology: “The Best of College Confidential” or something.

I also wrote one about National Novel Writing Month.

i wrote about my brother’s schizophrenia…

thanks hopefullyLAC

just hope that everyone could find their essays fun rather than a drudge. it’s actually the best part of the application.

wrote about lovely place I used to come for sightseeing :)

HHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPP MMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE!!!
i’m still having problem with my essay…i am finding it very hard to describe a situation and find right adjectives…its like ‘its midnight and you are doing your assignment on the subject you find hard, there silence every where, wind blowing from your window’
any good adjectives in your mind or any good way of describing this situation???

I wrote about how much I loved Irish dancing, and how much of a struggle the decision for me to quit was. I was afraid it would make me look like someone who was giving up, but apparently not, because the folks at one of my colleges absolutely loved it lol

I wrote about how I’m going to get rejected from all of the top schools because I’m tired and I have a headache, so my essays (which were going to be good) turned out to be sub-par. :)

I wrote about Fantasy Football, and how it interests me.

hopefullyLAC –

This is the only good essay I’ve seen about the application process – and I think it’s really hard to get a good one. I wish you the best of luck… (and hope this helps!)

I described how being a Disney fan has shaped my personality and my progression as a character.

… i hope i don’t come off as a dork, now that i see my topic in comparison to other topics. :stuck_out_tongue:
i was actually very satisfied with the final result and thoroughly enjoyed writing it.

the random supplemental short answers that i’m still working on, however…

hahaha, vadox-- that essay is awesome!
