If, through my tax dollars, I am paying for someone to get a $200,000 college education, I don't expect it to be taken advantage of by thoughtless knuckleheads intent on bloodying their classmates. And are these students at an Ivy League-level university for the purpose of learning to "kill people and break things" or for more intellectual pursuits, for which they are in need of unconcussed brains? Simply, this isn't the education we're paying for.
My friend who attended WP (and whose daughter is in her first year there now) told me that this “tradition” did not begin until 2000.
