Pitt Junior here, any questions?

intltransfer, Tower C is perfectly fine if you’re able to get in. The rooms are small, but they’re private, and you have a nice roomy closet. You will appreciate the convenience of the location when the weather turns cold, and you don’t even have to go outside for the dining hall.

He checked schedules and due to a Learning Community conflict Ghosh is out. What have you heard about either Roberts or Newman? Thanks for your input.

Does anyone know if freshman are allowed to have overnight guests their first semester?

yes, you’re allowed something like ten overnights/semester, that doesn’t include weekends, and your roommate has to consent.

Does anybody know any good social science or humanities electives? If you do could you please list the names of the classes and teachers. Thank You

RachelleyLee: Are you sure about that? I would stay over my friend’s room a zillion times, and it wasn’t always on a weekend. I never even knew there was a limit! plus, I have never heard of this roommate consent (just common courtesy)

Some social sciences electives I have enjoyed are…

CLASS 0020/0010/1130 ( Andrew Korzeniewski, some British guy, Edwin Floyd)
RELGST 0090/0105 (Andrew Gross-left Pitt, Adam Shear)
HIST 0600/0601 (idk lawl)
PHIL 0320 (Jochen Bojenowski)

honestly you can’t go wrong with most phil/class/relgst courses. The departments, esp. phil and classics are absolutely solid. Course numbers are what I remember, I might be off… In relgst/hist/class (they are cross indexed sometimes), Adam Shear, Rebecca Denova, Edwin Floyd, Andrew Miller, Andrew Korzeniewski are solid…

Emi: I don’t know when this system was put in place, but now any visitor to a dorm must be signed in by a resident. Not sure whether they actually count the number of visitors to each room, but they say they do, at least. If you were living in the same hall, i guess you wouldn’t have signed in anyway, so maybe that’s why you were allowed to stay so much? And yeah, roommates have to sign a contract at the beginning of each year (semester?) agreeing on guest policies, etc.

How does the school distribute tickets for football games and basketball games? is it a lottery system?

Football tickets are very easy to get. They have a booth set up in the quad during Arrival Survival. I think it was $25 or $35 and it covered all the Pitt home games.

Basketball games are based on a lottery system, the more points you accumulate increases your chances and you earn points for each game/event you attend. As a freshmen, my son was able to get a ticket to every basketball game including a Final Four ticket but Pitt didn’t get that far :(

I’m a sophmore at a University, and want to get into University of Pittsburg (main campus).

I want to apply for fall 09 but may try for the spring because its so late.

Chances of getting in University of Pittsburg?

hey thanks for answering all those questions! That is so helpful! I was wondering if you could tell me about the student life. Is Pitt really big in Frats and Sororities? Are you in one? Are your classes huge? I was also wondering if you knew anything about the Biology or Pre-med program. Thank youu!

My S loves soccer. He’s trying to find out how students get to the varisty games. Do you have any info about the club team?
