And sometimes it works to have more than one other roommate. You can have a better place than you could have had otherwise. My son just renewed his contract for another year with his roommates. Just make sure you aren’t rooming with a jerk. Someone who has a stable source of income will be more reliable than someone who doesn’t.

The wall was offered as an option by the apartment complex, it was their suggestion. I can’t imagine doing something like this without the managements approval, as it is a semi-permanent structure. All occupants must be on the lease.

FIDI and BPC are often overlooked neighborhoods and people have the mistaken idea that there is not much going on down there in the evenings. They are great neighborhoods for kids out of college looking for apts. to share. The rents can be reasonable and the buildings are all very nice with doormen, health clubs and roof decks for entertaining.

There are great restaurants in the immediate area and the whole BPC area is a wonderful escape from urban life in the nicer weather. We had a blast there one Saturday night this summer. Went to Nelson Blue for dinner then an outdoor movie in the Seaport area and finished up on Stone St. for after dinner drinks. Barely room at the outdoor tables on Stone St. so there was plenty going on.

What kind of harassment are we talking about? And are we talking about young moms pushing strollers with babies in them going after musicians carrying instruments about the neighborhood?!

Regularly calling cops on them for any perceived/imagined noise issues and yelling/getting on their case for being perceived noisemakers in the building.

Even when all the cop calls are unsubstantiated and a few cops apologized, being frequently visited by cops under such circumstances can get quite old and wearisome after a while.

If neighbors are jerky, harassing or <<< fill in pejorative of one’s liking>>>> well, maybe its not the neighbors who are jerks. Guess its just that deadbeat third roommate.

And as for the roommates, time for noise cancelling headphones and earplugs for the next holiday gift.
