<p>So after waiting what seemed like an eternity, (hah I think it was 5 postal days) I finally opened my mailbox today to find a big manila envelope! So Plan II is my first legit acceptance!!</p>

<p>Sooo… I just found out that I got into UChicago; aren’t their selection criteria supposed to be really similar to Plan II’s? Like, I think their acceptance rate is higher, but aren’t their applicants really self-selective?</p>
<p>I wish Plan II gave interviews.</p>
<p>I love UChicago, but it’s so expensive and the winter gets so cold… I still really hope I get into Plan II. :/</p>

Maybe if you made a visit to UT and talked to the dean of Plan-II and show interest? I actually have no idea if that makes any sort of difference, but I’m sure your college plans will work out beautifully come May :D</p>

<p>UChicago & Northwestern were both on my college list last year… until I realized how much of a wimp I am. I don’t even like winter here! plus isn’t there a motto that goes something like “UChicago: hell does freeze over”? There’s a reason why there’s only one college on my list above the mason-dixon line.</p>

<p>anyone know what the process is for those of us who applied to both Plan II and LAH?</p>
<p>I put Plan II as my first choice, so I’m assuming they’ll have to figure out whether I’m accepted for it first, and then if not, decide for LAH, right?</p>

<p>Daughter got accepted for LAH also. Not sure when the letter arrived, as we’ve been out of town for the last 3 days…</p>
<p>We heard at LAH orientation that a lot of Plan II students who applied to both were also accepted to LAH but chose Plan II.</p>

I guess both programs are looking for similar people: those interested in learning for its own sake in a broad range of subjects. </p>
<p>I would definitely choose Plan II, though, simply due to the fact that it’s actually distinct from other programs (with its own classes and curriculum). LAH is really just a way to take normal honors classes in a bunch of subjects, right?</p>
<p>If I haven’t gotten a letter from LAH back yet, do you think that’s bad news? I’m starting to get nervous about it now that a bunch of people seem to have gotten theirs and were admitted… :(</p>
<p>Plan II is a major and has a lot of requirements. </p>
<p>LAH just requires that you take one of its two main courses sometime your first year and requires that you take the fall seminar, which is a one-credit pass fail class. LAH allows you to enroll in honors sections of many classes - spots are reserved for LAH kids. Makes registering a little bit easier. The people at the LAH office are nice, very helpful.</p>
<p>So when should those decision letters from Plan II start rolling in?</p>
<p>^ My friend got hers in early March last year, but it’s rolling, so I bet one or two “waves” will be sent out before that.</p>
<p>I got my message in the mail on Feb. 02 (yesterday)! I’m so relieved to finally have the offer set in stone. :-)</p>
<p>Now, I can stop checking these forums like a maniac for the slightest hint of a post date.</p>
<p>All that’s left is to wait for the BHP response.</p>
