Yes, it’s possible, maybe even probable that for jobs right out of school, a UCI degree might be looked upon as not as good as a Berkeley or UCLA degree in a side-by-side comparison, but once you gain the experience (assuming you do get good experience), 5+ years later it won’t matter at all.
My niece just finished her freshman year at UCI as an EE major and she was able to get an ok internship here in Silicon Valley for the summer (it helped that she’s from here). A lot of times when it comes to job hunting, it’s more about being in the right place at the right time and being diligent in pursuit. Also, having internships and/or relevant job experience accumulated while in school helps a great deal as well.
