Planting Seeds Indoors

I usually get mine at any plant nursery in the spring with the other flower/vegetable plants.

Received my heating mat today so hope to plant seeds this weekend. Any recommended -# of hours to keep the mat on??

I use the same timer that I use for the lights. Generally I set it on for somewhere around about 12 1/2 hours per day.

I do not know what is actually recommended.

I just keep mine on constantly until the seeds are done sprouting. The idea is to warm the soil and quicken that process. I’m not sure what is recommended though.

My community garden master gardener told me the same today - the heat mat is for the sprouting process.

And once they sprout the heat mat isn’t necessary but the grow lights become more important depending on natural lighting. It’s hard to have too much light.
