Play Along - A Restaurant Game

I went to HS and college in the area. I’ve experienced Legal firsthand. That’s the purpose of this thread; people praise it, and I just don’t get the attraction.

I thought if one, Jersey mikes, I don’t know how it survives by me, it’s definitely better than subway (our town had one for a while, across from the high school which has open lunch, COVID and 1 1/2 years virtual school killed it). I would get Jersey mikes outside of NJ, but not here at home.

What I expected was one person to say “I hate this place” - and the. Another person to defend that place - cause they like it!

I still haven’t been! I need to do at least once!

Most of us know local is better. Not meant to be a bashing thread. If you don’t do chains ever then you probably won’t have anything to post here - you only do local? Good for you - but that’s not the purpose of this thread, lol.

Feel free to counterpoint someone! Like “ Panera isn’t perfect but their new Italian sub was an 8.5/10!!!

I’m with @Rivet2000 I dislike pretty much all chains. My exception is chipotle and their salads.

I don’t care for Chipotle or Chick-fil-A.

For me, it’s Olive Garden. Everyone around here loves Olive Garden. I can’t get past the price. And nice pasta is wasted on me. I’m happy with my $1 box from the grocery store.

Also Bojangles. I like it ok, but definitely don’t love it. The drive through line is always wrapped around the store. Biscuitville is too, but I like that better than bojangles.

Starbucks. Coffee is ok but pricing is out of whack.

Dick’s - hand down. It is a local burger co that many, many locals go wild about. Very mediocre burgers. But cheap and fast!

We must be lucky because all the Waffle Houses we’ve been to have been scrupulously clean.

I think Waffle House is a restaurant that requires you to either be a great orderer, lucky…or tipsy.

The plain waffles are terrible, but the pecan waffles are surprisingly tasty.

The hash browns are awesome, as long as you dress them up (my order was hash browns with onions, tomato, ham and jalapeño peppers).

Yes! I call it “have it our way, not yours.” Son likes it well enough but once was once too often for me.

The In and Out in my town always has an insane line of cars for the drive through. If we are on a long drive and fast food is the only option we will go to In and Out or Chipotle. They are both only okay and I never go to them at home. I’ve converted to bringing a picnic style lunch for long car drives.
I went to a Cracker Barrel in Nashville area a number of years ago with friends. We had the hardest time finding anything half healthy to eat. We didn’t get the hype. We did like the candy selection.

Friends of ours love Cracker Barrel. We feel like it’s not good for you food, for sure, and it doesn’t taste great either.

Chuy’s. It’s a mexica restaurant. DS wanted to go there as they ate there in Austin. I wasn’t impressed.

Well, I love ChikfilA and Bojangles. Olive Garden is very popular around here but I simply do not get it. Cook-Out and Raising Canes- again, I just don’t get it. I do like Five Guys but H is not a fan.

Oh the cook out is the bomb !! Agree on Chuy’s above.

Einstein Bagels - terrible bagels. Dunkin too.

Now we’ve got the hang of the thread!

I like a Cracker Barrel experience like twice a year- not planning for it to be a healthy experience . Especially novel when traveling. I don’t do like the chicken fried steak but I like a good breakfast special with a few items for under $10. And the cute personal sized bottles of maple syrup!

I think a lot of it depends on the available local “versions” of these chains. We have an awesome Italian place, so why go to Olive Garden? Tons of great Mexican food, so I’d pass on Taco Bell, Qdoba, Chipotle. As for Cook-Out? A short drive to incredible bbq.
