chinkchink, your GPA, SAT’s, and course workload puts you in a disadvantageous position when applying to emory university.

Your unweighted GPA puts you in the bottom 25% percentile and your SAT’s put you in the 50% percentile. Please note that MOST COLLEGES do not consider the writing portion of the SAT’s (ironically, WR section is the best indicator of how one will do in college out of the entire test)

You should focus on improving the SAT’s. You already shown aptitude in the test - just improve your critical reading score by practicing that section and memorizing more vocabulary. If you prefer to take the ACT test, try taking a mock test and see if you perform within the Emory 50% range. (Most colleges will consider the highest score of the section (not sure if emory does this, check with admissions office), but scoring high in all sections in one time instead of multiple times will look better)

Try to get a 4.0 on your first grading period. Most colleges acknowledge the fact that senior year grades are best indicators of your performance in college. A upward grade trend will also work towards your favor.

Your EC’s are good, but not great. Most people applying to Emory have similar EC’s and some may even have national awards such as NMSQT/PSAT, AP Scholar Awards, Telluride, etc.

Having said this, Only 7% of Emory’s class are from the west coast. Your decision to go ED may work in your favor.

However, before ED’ing, try to visit the campus first. It is a very beautiful campus (not so much if you are into more standard brown/red buildings) with marble structures and almost greek style to it.

Average GPA: 3.71–3.98 / 4.0 unweighted scale
SAT verbal: 640–730
SAT math: 660–750
SAT writing: 650–740
SAT total: 1950–2220
ACT: 29–33

Having said this, your GPA can improve as well. If possible
