Please help me chance / match schools [AL resident, 3.97 GPA, 34 ACT, <$49k, chemistry, biology, biochemistry]

I’m wondering why you didn’t apply EA to Virginia, NC, or Michigan. They all will be tougher in RD.

I don’t see a sure thing admittance on your list. Please make sure you find one. Many schools have been suggested.

For the schools you listed, you start as a high match/low reach OOS at Michigan, UVA, and UNC and the privates are reaches. There are no matches on that list.

Before applying to any school, run the NPC to see if it would likely be affordable for you and your family. There’s no sense applying to a school if you can’t afford it without taking out a second mortgage. Of those you listed, I’m thinking that the OOS publics will be tough if your budget is $49k per year.

Start with a couple of safeties you like, or at least wouldn’t mind attending. In-state you have Alabama, Auburn, UAB, UAH – all solid. If you would prefer to have a private safety option, I’d look for schools with at least a 50% admit rate, where your stats are at or above the 75th percentile.

These were the schools I wanted to see my chances for regular decision. I have already applied to my in-state and safety schools early and heard back from them. Based on merit I will recieve a full tuition coverage for UAB, USA, UA and most likely from AU as well. I wanted to see what kind of out of state schools and higher ranked institutions I might have a chance in. Sorry for the confusion, I feel like I confused a lot of people because my post wasn’t specific enough.

I checked it with the tuition calculator on their website for non-resident students, I will not be able to get full aid but they will cover enough for me to be able to attend

Glad to hear you already have some acceptances. You have a shot at every school on your list and I’d imagine you’ll get some acceptances. Which ones? No one can really say with any level of certainty. Good luck to you!
