<p>No, colleges don’t use PSAT scores and the scores aren’t reported to them.</p>
<p>and, even being a NMF won’t help much because those schools are loaded with NMFs.</p>
<p>However, they do purchase lists that have students who’ve scored - say - about 210 - so that they know who to send mail to. They won’t know the individual scores of these students, just that they’ve scored higher than a certain number. I’m not sure, but I don’t think the selection lists are as exact as “student who score over 235” or something like that. I was told that NMCorp just sells lists that have those who are scoring at or above certain %tiles, which for 98%tile (which is what they would want) would be students scoring around 210+.</p>
<p>But, the good news is that your son does well on tests. He should take the SAT soon as well as the ACT.

<p>Congrats and best of luck to your son. And although ivies may be his/your focus, be sure to explore match and safety schools as well because many high stats kids get rejected and sometimes cost is an issue (and ivies don’t give merit scholarships).</p>
