Please LOW CARB educate me!!!!

Just wanted to report that 11 days into it, things are going well!

One week of low carb helped me to get rid of the cravings.

A couple of weeks of logging in all my foods on MyPlate has put me in a routine where I pretty much know what I’m eating and don’t have to input everyday if I forget - I can manage the calories on my own pretty well.

The scale says I have lost about 3 pounds but more important to me, I can feel a difference in my belly area AND in my pants - just a little bit looser! YEAH!

I’ve been keeping breakfast at pretty much one of two things. Either my steel cut oats or a 2 egg omelet with a little cheese and veggies. Both satisfy me well. On the weekend I may splurge with one day of a waffle or something. Lunch is often raw veggies, some type of good dip (hummus) and another protein. Not missing the carbs! Dinner is some type of variation of what I am making for the family. Earlier in the week they wanted stuffed shells. I made it for them, but for me, I made some whole grain pasta (not a large serving) that I topped with some of the marinara and then I took some of the cheese shell filling and baked it in a small dish and ate just the cheese mixture on the side. Loved it!

Still usually have a small sweet at night - small and eat very slowly! And a couple of nights I didn’t even feel hungry for anything - what a change!

Hope I can keep it up. It feels really, really good right now! Thanks for all the advice - maybe I’ll be confident to participate a little more on the diet-exercise thread now…:)

Fantastic, abasket!

I found that the first three pounds was, by far the hardest. That’s the hurdle – to shift gears and change direction. Once you start seeing the results, it becomes highly motivating to keep it going.

I also found that I still needed the late night snack in the early going, but as I got further into the whole move more/eat less thing, that habit grew weaker over time. I literally taught myself to crave fewer snacks.

I’ve been enjoying this thread and learning alot!
I’m a longtime carb/sweets-aholic.
My DH had a laparoscopic lapband procedure one month ago. His post procedure plan stresses high protein, low carbs. So I figured it was the perfect opportunity to make a change in my eating as well.
Lots of greek yogurt, tuna with low fat mayo, cottage cheese with fruits, egg white omelets,e tc.
Only about 8 lbs down compared to DH’s FORTY TWO but I’m moving in the right direction!
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.

Good job Musicmom!!! And wow to your husband!
