hey… did ull get a notification by post? or did ull see it on their status website?

This is the exact msg on the website

"Congratulations! You have been admitted to the McCombs School Of Business ( Unspecified Business (Freshman) ) at UT Austin. Learn more about your admission and find out what to do next to begin your Longhorn experience. "

We also received a letter from McCombs & it was after few days from the status change.

S got in with 32 ACT. When he applied he had class rank top 1%, NMSF, lots of ECs. All honors classes but not many APs. Changed his major since then so he won’t be enrolling.

To ppl who have recently been accepted,

When did you guys apply? Are you in-state or out? I’m out of state and I applied just before the Dec. 15th deadline…when might my decision be posted online?

In-State Applicant
Application submitted: 3rd week of Oct 2009
First Choice of Major: Business (& BHP)
Second Choice: Plan II Hons

General Admission to UT : in few days after app submission
BHP interview: 1st week of Jan 2010

McCombs admission offer: Last week of Jan 2010
BHP Admission offer: Last week of Jan 2010
Plan II Admission offer: First week of Feb 2010

UTBHP, will your child double major in BHP/Plan II?

Givings, yes, that is the plan for now!

My son’s top choice was McCombs but was not accepted as an OOS candidate. He was accepted to UT Austin with his second major choice. His stats were #1/125; UW 4.0 W 4.35; SAT1890.

UTBHP I recently had a conversation with someone re: whether doubling up on those majors is allowed. I’m sure it is very difficult to get into both, but my son (currently a junior) keeps waffling over whether to major in straight business (hopefully BHP) or do Plan II, then get an M.B.A. I will be interested in hearing about your S’s or D’s experience. That is so awesome that he/she was admitted to both. What a great opportunity!

Got in OOS with 33 on ACT, 4.0 GPA, and 1/55 class rank.

Givings, my D has not started yet. But we have heard from different students (ex & current) that it is duable. Here is a profile of a current student [Student Profiles | Meet Us | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/meetus/profiles/ehui.html). This student is in BHP + Plan II + Finance. However it ultimately depends on the student. My D thinks that she would be able able to handle it. Thanks!

Actually, my husband just told me that this was discussed in the meeting he and my S attended when they visited UT. (This was the special session at McCombs.) Anyway, apparently majoring in both is not THAT uncommon. I also spoke today with a mom from our town whose niece did both, although it took an extra year. Said she LOVED it, and even spent a semester in France. Did say it was hard, but that her niece was extremely focused. Graduated two years ago and is working in New York for an IB. (That isn’t really what I hope my son will end up doing, but oh well, it’s not really my choice!)

Now, how S will get admitted to both…that is the hard part.

How do I know if I got in? It isn’t clear on the site whether or not I was accepted or rejected and its the day before the decisions are supposed to come back. It says “Congratulations! You have been admitted to the McCombs School Of Business (Unspecified Business (Freshman)) at UT Austin.” However, it has no additional information whether or not I was accepted or rejected at BHP or Plan II. Someone on this thread made it sound like that message means you got into BHP but others on different threads made the opposite conclusion. I’m really confused… how do I know if I’ve been accepted? Is there a way to check?

Btw my stats are: 16/604. 790CR/780M/750W.

My son just got in…
ranking - 66/515 (14%)
ACT - 31
GPA - 4.91
We were shocked as we expected only top 3% to get in McCombs. Guess they really do look at essays and community service and leadership!

Congratulations! McCombs does its best to be wholesome and there’s the proof :)

@nvg281: You will receive a letter :D

@TheAccountingCat - How do you know? Do you by chance know the answers the questions I previously posed?

33 act
