Please reply i am very tensed

I have heard APES is easy…I never took it, Again, both IB and AP may look good but you need to show you are more than numbers. So get involved in art/music or some other charity stuff over summer and show that passion over the next 3 years. If that means dropping the IB or another extra AP, that is fine. (and yes, if you are motivated, do some studying over summer…)

do you have any specific names for the ‘getting involved’ part. and would starting a club help me alot? thanks alot btw

Try this [VolunteerMatch - Where Volunteering Begins](http://www.volunteermatch.org/) for volunteering in your interest.
A lot of people interested in medical, volunteer at hospital. Though that is getting fairly common. Starting a club looks good but you need to go beyond just opening a club and getting 3 members. Depends what kind of club and what you do with it.
I think the key is ‘find something you love and do it well, really really well’. Pre-college summer programs are very expensive.

I went through many years of high school thinking of Columbia, and I’m ending up not even going there; don’t worry too much. Really. It will help you more in the long run if you enjoy high school, get involved, and work hard for the sake of getting good grades/learning WITHOUT thinking about college yet. It’s good to be aware that certain things may help your application, but don’t always be consciously analyzing your life in terms of getting into college.

Your course load is also really impressive, as I see it. I didn’t take an AP until Junior year (took 4), and took Algebra II freshman year. And I was named a Rabi Scholar at Columbia (science research scholar). Over the next few years keep a lookout for great internships/experiences, such as doing research; they can really help.

DON’T STRESS OUT. You will be fine. Be happy =)

Buckle down and stay off CC until junior year . . .

^ Most succinct and sound advice yet. I’d like that if I were on Facebook. +1 it if I were on Google+. Upvote it if I were on Reddit.

should i do ap or ib?

Both on this forum and on the Harvard forum posters are suggesting that you calm down and give this a rest, because you are only a sophomore! You need to really get a grip and stop panicking about something that is almost two years in the future. You would be better served at this time asking these questions of your high school counselor, rather than posing them non-stop to the anonymous posters on CC who are urging you to COME BACK NEXT YEAR! There is no RATIONAL reason to be so upset and so overwrought about admissions as a sophomore. Do your best in high school – NOW – and admissions decisions appropriate to your achievements will invariably come your way. IN TWO YEARS! As has been suggested, it is now time to give this a rest and get back to high school. You are having what seems to be a major “freak out” and it would probably be more productive for you to deal with your stress issues NOW, and worry about college admissions issues later – you know… NEXT year.

We don’t know if you should do AP or IB, and cannot appropriately advise you at this time. Really, please ask these questions of your high school counselor. Advising you appropriately is his or her job. Or, perhaps, get your parents’ best advice.

It is very probable that parents and high school counselor will say what we are trying to tell you. Sophomore year is way too early to be be so overwrought about college admissions. Do your best in high school – NOW – and the rest will follow in its own good time.

Good grief, you are only a freshman! I misread. Stop this nonsense.

lmao so i shouldnt be tensed?

You seem to have an inordinate amount of time on your hands for someone who should be in school taking care to get great grades on final exams. Not only should you NOT be tensed, you should be working on time management skills since you are wasting your time on this board stressing out instead of WORKING ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDIES! See ya here in a few years. As for now, start seeking advice from more appropriate sources, as mentioned above.

You are beginning to seem less a legitimate poster, and more a ■■■■■ because clearly you are not absorbing or taking ANY of the advice you have received on either of these forums.

Best of luck!

im not a ■■■■■ lol im actually being legit

What about Columbia makes you want to apply?

the campus, the excellence in pre med, social life, location, passion, alot of stuff

This is a stupid question asked by a stupid person. No, a 3.9 is not good enough and no college will EVER accept you…you FAILURE!

-_-"

says the guy with a purplepanda as their username

You read post 28 and 29. And your reply was: “i shouldnt be tensed?”

Here’s your real problem. You don’t listen and/or you’re overly insecure. You better fix that character flaw. I’d never want you to be a physician to me or my kids.
