It’s been mentioned already, but ask questions. Do research on the potential employer and be prepared to ask two or three intelligent questions about the company, the department and the candidate’s role in it.

I also echo the advice on good manners - eye contact, firm handshake, thank you note for interview, etc.

DS was flown in (connecting flights) for an interview with Boeing. He told them he noticed both of his flights were on Boeing planes, asked if they arranged that for him. Good icebreaker that got a laugh, and he got the job, so I guess they liked his observations.
