Please suggest a dishwasher

Is the filter that needs to be manually cleaned a bother? My old dishwsher has a hard food disposer in it, but those ultra-quiet new ones don’t have that feature.

I have the Kitchenaid and the filter is no bother at all. It is easy to get to and rarely has anything in it. I check it twice a year and only had to clean it once!

My vote is for the Miele. The silverware rack is one of the best features ever–you can be sure that your silverware is clean. It’s far superior to putting all the silverware into a basket. The Miele is also very quite. I have one in the kitchen and one in a pantry.

My 12 plus year old Bosch dishwasher finally died and I replaced it with the newest in the 800 plus series. I thought my other Bosch dishwashers were quiet, but this one wins the prize. I can also do smaller loads without wasting water or energy.

Like the Miele, this machine now also features a silverware rack on the top ( easily removable) in addition to a basket that can be divided in two and positioned anywhere on the lower rack. I find the basket convenient - would rather sort clean utensils into drawers than dirty ones into slots. With the basket, you just lift up and unload directly at the drawer. It’s also convenient when you are unloading items into different drawers. Have never had a problem with the utensils coming out anything but clean, but I don’t tend to overload. I really like the top rack for oversized serving spoons, spatulas etc. There was never a great place for those before.

The European machines are somewhat shallower in depth ( a plus if you want them to sit flush with inset cabinets) but I understand that they are also more roomy in usable height compared to the American made dishwashers.
